PC or Mac?
#11
I remember ME very well. It lasted all of 3 hours on my computer before I "downgraded" to 98SE.

The best version of Windows in recent years has been 2000. It's rock solid and has very low impact.

Have you tried a mac for more than a few hours?

ME is millenium edition, which was a worse cock up than Vista.
Shocking I know!

Macs don't go wrong which deprives me of the satisfaction of fixing them.

Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.

I will be honest with you. I like windows 2000 as well. I do know that windows 2000 was intended to be like NT5 and was more for businesses then the Retail User. Thats when XP came around as was the first Microsoft Windows Retail User Operating System that was based on NT technology and therefore used the NTFS File System.

I'm deff a PC fan... I have/use
Windows 3.11 for workgroups / Win 98 / Win XP
(or go way back and its DOS) LOL
All the reviews i've seen on Win 7 are good, but i wouldn't 'upgrade' any
of my existing PC's since they work flawlessly as is (plus i ani't giving
Micro$oft any more cash for software LOL)
If i had an extra computer i'd set up Linux again...really only non-windows
OS i'd be interested in

I have an old MAC G3 (which i hardly ever use) ... the thing is a pain to
use, plus i see no way to make it share files over a network with windows,
so its really usless to me

It is really interesting what happens when you finally relent and go for a mac.

For me it was the same nervousness as upgrading to a new PC OS.

I use an old dell running XP and keep thinking that I should go get a new PC... then I remember that the XP Dell does what I need it for (mostly downloading porn Roflmao ). It does it somewhat grudgingly, takes forever to just load the mouse properties (which for some reason has stopped storing its settings and I have to re-set it every time I restart the PC  ).

I had a great fear to upgrade from Tiger to Leopard but it was smooth as all fu@k. I had zero fear of upgrading to Snow and again sooooooo smooth Clap ). All I hear from PC users is I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW OS TO FIX ALL THESE ISSUES. MS then creates some monstrous OS. EVERYONE reports that it is the greatest thing ever invented. That last about a week Lol2 Stir and repeat hahaha Scared

I know us mac users sound like fan boys Bow but I for one was very skeptical. A friend kept pushing and when she found me a deal I could not pass up - I FOUND THE TRUTH Party

I have many many many PMs from my friend Cards with him going back and forth on THE TRUTH and can guarantee you he is NOT a mac fanatic until he took that step.

I keep thinking (see above). Then come to my senses and will NEVER guy a PC unless it is built locally from a reputable individual. And then I will expect it to be sh!t.

I do have a question.
You always hear PC fanboys argue that macs cant do gaming so I assume that PCs do gaming fantastically BUT if that is true why cant they even hold a bloody mouse preference?

IMO The best way to get a new PC is to build it yourself Smile LOL not just go
down and buy "whatever is on sale this week"

I have no interest in anything that won't network 'talk/share' with my existing
PC's...so whatever new PC i get must do that

Not into Gaming so can't really say anything on that subject

That may have been the case back then. Doesn't seem to be a problem these days. OSX has Samba, which does Windows shares, built in.

And it passes "The Engineers Laptop Test" - ie, it can go on an engineers laptop and not need reinstalling within the year.

I use it still as a virtual machine for the odd Windows application I've got to use.

I was sceptical also. I bought a Mac Mini for a few hundred to "see" how it worked at little financial risk, knowing I could flog it on quite easily with little loss. I was won over. I now hate having to use my work Windows machine as it feels too damn slow and flakey.

And Macs can do that. No problem.
