This week's theme song is.........'Totally Fucked' from the Broadway musical 'Spring Awakening'
[COLOR="Navy"]Okay now on to the question.....
I read an article recently about the rise in popularity of bareback (sex without a condom) porn among gay audiences. It has gained such steam that gay porn studios that previously had condoms only policies are scarping them to meet the demand. My question is do you think that porn outlets have a duty to protect their performers and act in a socially responsible manner. People have a tendency to reenact what they see in porn so could this be partly to blame for the upsurge in popularity of barebacking in the younger generations?
My personal view is that this is an egregious breach of social responsibly and it is also putting the porn stars themselves at risk. HIV/AIDS is still very much a reality in the gay community, but it seems to have fallen by the wayside in the younger generations who no longer see it as a problem and are readily engaging in bareback sex. I know it may sound silly to talk about porn studios and social responsibility in the same sentence, but I think that they owe it to the community to help create a culture of safety that not only reaches into the bedroom, but also on to the screen. Also more has to be done to make sure that people know the dangers associated with barebacking, especially the younger generations who did not live through the AIDS crisis and do not know the impact the disease still has on the community. This my sound a little drastic, but I will never have sex without a condom, no matter what.
Thank you all for reading and please leave your responses below....love y'all
