There are many things that exist that I have never considered to be spirit, tea pots, bureaucracy, traffic jams to name but a few.

I've come to believe that Christ was here as a spiritual teacher. To show us how to connect with spirit. I use the term spirit loosely, because it is whatever your interpretation of god is. God does not have form like we think, and I've always believed he presents himself in whatever way each of us needs.

My interests are not in pushing any particular religion. I'm interested in how each of us experiences our own connection with spirit.

The important part of religion isn't the book they read from, or the building they attend, or the preacher who gives the sermon. Faith and spirit are all around us, and I believe that too often gay people are shunned and told they have no place in religion or a connection to their spirit. Our spirits are filled with so many amazing talents, gifts, and reflections of our true spirit.

Part of what makes religion abusive, is the concept that one is right and one is wrong. That there are sinners who are destined for hell. Maybe you believe that, maybe you don't.

I've studied many religions and seen the perspective of faith from many different cultures. The one absolutely true element in all of them is that God has presented himself to each of those faiths in the way that group of people needed to see him.

The point of acknowledging spirit versus a particular religion is that it cuts away the dogma, and sees the true connection we all share.

Give it whatever name you like, whether it's monotheistic, polytheistic, or just spirit, it's all just the human interpretation of the same thing.

In the end, never let religion get in your way of your connection to God. That's my wish for everyone.
