The pie charts indicate how much units of electricity were produced by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 200.

As we can see from the first two pie charts, total units of electricity production were 100 in 1980 and 170 in 2000 respectively in Australia. Interestingly, around one-fifth of the total units were produced by hydro power, with 20 units in 1980 and 36 units in 2000. However, Australia spent much less oil and natural power to produce electricity in 2000, compared to 1980. Instead, 80 more units of electricity were produced by coal, in comparison with only 50 units produced by coal twenty years ago.

In the last two pie charts, we can easily learn that France used one more source , i.e. nuclear power to produce electricity. Even though, the total production was just 90 units in 1980, it almost doubled after two decades. Furthermore, in 1980, both coal and natural gas played a critical role in producing electricity, with 25 units of production each, whereas the situation changed in 2000. It was the nuclear power that took the lead in electricity production..

The gap in the standards of living between the city and the countryside is becoming increasingly wider. Why does this happen? How can we reduce the difference?

With the rapid development of science and technology, the standards of living between the city and the countryside have become more and more different. People from big cities find it difficult to adapt to the lives in the countryside on account of those difference.

What makes the gap wider is mainly because of the distinction education background. People in the countryside mostly receive poorer education than those from cities, resulting in different conceptions about life. For example, famers may just need some livestock and fields to live a happy life. However, gorgeous houses and cars are the basic needs to enjoy their lives in cities. Besides, since people in cities have more access to the latest information every day than those from the countryside, which often is located in remote places. What’s more, the government invests less money in the countryside, compared with cities. As a result of the three major causes above, the gap in standards of living will surely be wider.

To prevent the gap from becoming wider, first of all, the government should make some contributions. Offering financial and technical support is an effective method to help the countryside catch up with the cities. Take a countryside called Hongxing as an example, Hongxing used to a small countryside with much poverty. After the government took some steps in finance and technology, the local started to build a whole new living environment. I could not have believed it if I had not visited there last year. More importantly, the quality of education in the countryside should be improved to the same level as that in cities. As we all know, youngsters are the future masters who will take control of the world. When people from the countryside and city both gain equal education, I think the gap between them will no longer exist.

To sum up, it is definitely going to be a long-term task to accomplish this goal. I firmly believe the situation will become better as long as we put what we planned into practice.

A few more things for you to consider:

1. Cities tend to attract people with higher education levels because of all of the available ammenities and cultural attractions. This includes museums, restaurants, nightlife, sports and music venues etc.

2. Higher cost of living in large cities thus must pay higher wages.

3. People who live in the country side may be satisfied with their wages and lifestyle so they may not want or need assistance from govt.

4. Young people from country side often move to the larger cities because there are many opportunities and ammenities.

5 what impact do you think Internet has on those living in country side?

6. What research can you do to provide data that will back up some of these assumptions

Good luck!!!!
