Sex in general has the purpose of...giving pleasure and maybe helping one express his feelings. One way or another, slut or no slut, for everybody sex has a purpose as long as their life has some sort of a purpose.

Gay Sex has had an integral purpose for me....I had to submit to my mother and father who were both mentally ill.....I had a self destructive brain stemming from my life experience and to some degree I still do because both of my parents made me their parent which basically cost me my identity....
I have practiced dominance and submission (not to be confused with S&M) to help me overcome the brainwashing and conditioning I had in my younger years...there is a freedom for me knowing that I willingly submitted my will to another person.....it counteracts a lifetime of it being forced on me and I credit sex with restoring my brain and soul to what it might have been had I not been subjected to these two people who should have never reproduced...
SO THERE...gay sex has had a great purpose in my life:biggrin:

in answer to the question is YES

Well, the two major hormones released during sex are oxytocin and vasopressin. High levels of testosterone decrease the effects of vasopressin, but both males and females produce oxytocin during kissing, cuddling and sex. Oxytocin is called the “cuddle chemical,” or “love hormone.” (Interestingly, they are doing studies in using it in the treatment of autism.)
Anyway, both of these hormones promote “pair bonding.” So, sex and emotional attachment do have a scientific link.
Oxytocin, in particular, helps us feel calm and more content; reduces stress and anxiety; lowers blood pressure and believe it or not, it increases feelings of generosity, empathy and trust. So there are physical and emotional health benefits to sex, not just pleasure.

As I was thinking about this I couldn't help but wonder: yes, we know the result of m/f sex can be reproduction. And, the production of “pair bonding” is then thought to be all about providing an environment for the child rearing, blah, blah, blah and oxytocin is produced during childbirth—stimulates lactation and promotes mother-child bonding. BUT, what if nature has more to it? I mean, WHY would this hormone promote empathy and generosity? The hormone is produced whether you masturbate, or the sex is m/m, f/f or m/f. Is the empathy and generosity person specific? Or is it just in general? Maybe if it’s more for a particular person, then that’s “love?” IDK, just kind of thinking out loud. But, what if nature also uses sex as increasing empathy and generosity for all interactions, then it serves the species as a whole because it increases a group’s chance of survival. So, sex wouldn’t just be about reproduction, but also the production of hormones that give us behavioral traits needed to ensure we survive??? Would we survive without empathy? Can we survive without generosity? This is really stupid, huh?
