People tend to measure the costs of climate change in lives, but the costs of action in money, this is biased. Significant action on CO2 emissions (assuming no unexpected technological leap such as nuclear fusion power) will lead to large increases in the cost of energy. This will slow down economic progress in the developing world, economic progress in the developing world saves lives, slowing it down costs lives.

I remain genuinely yet to be convinced whether or not significant action on climate change is warranted. However if we are going to look at the issue properly we need unbiased measurements.
