AFAIK, Prop 8 supporters are currently appealing the decision to overturn it by two judges. The first judge declared the prop unconstitutional, but he was also gay and is in an LTR with another man, so Prop 8 folks argued he was biased because he might have a personal stake in the outcome. So, the case went to another judge who declared that the first judge's judgment was not biased and his decision should still stand. So, prop 8 supporters are now appealing THAT decision. Meanwhile until all that is setlled and appeals end, no same sex marriages can legally take place in CA.
If anyone knows something I don't, feel free to correct me.

Yes, once the two most populous states of the USA have gay marriage legal, others will feel it's ok to deliver the same.... Even if this was originally started by smaller states.

I think victory in New York will lead to some major change in the US including the overturn of Prop8.
I am so happy for New York. I read somewhere that NOM spent 1.5 mils to stop the legislation but NY makes it through still somehow.
