College Relationships?
#1
Okay so one of the main reason I have rejoined this website is because I would like to date, but am having trouble doing it. I go to college, and there IS a LGBT club, but I'm not sure if I would fit in, seeing as I was brought up Christian (and only coming to terms with my sexuality recently), I am nervous as to how I would accept and be accepted :frown: Look at my profile for my description etc if you want. But I don't know, because I am REALLY ready for a relationship.

Hey, dude--give the LGBT group a chance. My uni's group has all different types of subgroups to join and then various activities like pizza and movie Friday nights, we host lectures, fund-raisers, hiking, biking, etc. My ethnic/religious group has a queer subgroup. My bf is very active in a graduate school/professionals subgroup and we both like to go to activities with the gay-straight alliance group.

If your uni doesn't have a xan subgroup ask if you can start one.

Yes, the symbol X represents the Greek X (Chi). So, an abbreviation is Xan = Christian and Xmas = Christmas. Perhaps it should be Xian, IDK. Sorry for the confusion.

hello,
The first step to successful dating is to accept yourself.... Religion doesnt hate gays just take each step as it comes and overtime your be able to hug yourtself inside... Once i managed to do it i thought afterwards now im ready to find love Smile

kindest regards

Thanks Zeon! And Azulai, thanks for your help. I think I might make a subgroup for Christian gays, but I'm just nervous about the crap I'll get. But I'll think about it!

I don't think you have to worry about fitting in too much living, just respect the boundaries of others and they will usually respect yours. A LGBT group will be like any other group, it will be composed of people of diverse backgrounds and attitudes.

Also, in this day and age your school's LGBT group probably has a facebook group, so you can start to learn about what's going on without jumping right in in person.

Please listen to what OrphanPip said. Definitely take things slow and get to know the group first.

Hey, don't worry, livingproof! Life is good! Confusedmile:

I was also brought up in a conservative household, and I do understand how difficult it is for one to come to terms with his sexuality (under such terms). I did it; and, just like you said, you did it. Take one step at a time.
Now remember: You shouldn't be beating yourself up too much, thinking whether other people will accept you or not. Be exactly who you are so that people can know exactly who you are. Confusedmile:

There are such things as Gay Christians in the world.

http://www.gaychristian.net/
http://christiangays.com/

And many other sites:

Need a Church? http://www.gaychurch.org/Find_a_Church/f...church.htm

This last is a world wide directory of gay friendly churches.

While I know it seems hard to find 'tolerant' Christians, there are a good number out there. unfortunately they are not out there holding up signs that read 'God Loves Fags!' and when they do they don't get the wide spread media attention as Phelps and Company and their ilk.
