Measuring homosexuality
#11
Just like people have their own interests and personalities, sexuality is different for each person. We define people's sexuality based on superficial values. If a man has sex with men, he's gay. If a man has sex with a woman, he's straight. If a man has sex with both, he's bi. In my opinion, that's all a bit limiting.
I met a lesbian once who told me, after talking a bit, that she never, ever had any interest in men in her life. If that is true, then I would call this person 100% gay.

In my opinion, there are two parts to someone's orientation: physical/sexual, and emotional/psychological. There is the sexual part, which is the desire to have sex with one or both genders. This part I think is very fluid, but this alone I don't think defines someone's orientation. The emotional/psychological part is what I think is more important. What gender do you want to be with romantically? Which one would you feel more comfortable or relaxed being with?

Sex is sex. Most anyone, regardless of orientation is capable of having sex with the same gender and enjoy it, but it's who you want to be with that defines orientation.

Very good observation.

i honestly think there is no measurement for love. therfore no measurement of homosexuality. some embrace it so are hesitant. thats all it really is. are you going to judge a little girls girlyness based on how many teacups she has at her teaparty? lol it think its bogus. just my input, no offense to anyone who may think otherwise. i wont judge you! <3

That test thing is really not that accurate, nor is it really useful to figure out if you are gay. If oyu like guys, you just like guys regardless of how girlie or man you are.

i post this in humor:
an Android app to determine if your son is gay

its important that we know who we are. and you start that by knowing the population. for sure there are scientific methods that include proper statistics and math to get close to the numbers. i would rather do this that have someone preface a statement "i believe" this or that. not really interested in someone's belief system.

Measure gayness? Its a sexuality either you are, or not, or bi. It would be more logical to measure Femininity or masculinity in a person

i am very gay. if there is a scale (Femininity / masculinity) i am at one end of it. so how does this effect my sexual preference?

I did not meant it affected your sexual preference. What i meant is Either you find men hot or not, don't think you can say 'I am 33% gay'. Some might be more out what they find attractive, some not, i do not think its specially gay to be forward with your sexuality.

i sorta agree, a bi could be a preference for a person who is moving away from a straight relationship to a gay one. or just speaking from my experience of what i did.

on the other side tho; gay men are not known for their acceptance and they tend towards a myopic view on life. or is it just me.

i think there is room for more clinical evaluation.
