Occupy Wall St---I warned you, didn't I?
#1
About 2 weeks before the current occupation of Wall St began, I posted a thread suggesting the occupation of Wall St. My thread got no readers or posts. Guys I must be really stupid. I had no idea all GaySpeak members were rich gay sociopaths. Guys I don't think I fit the economic profile to be a rich gay guy. I live on Social Security and I need Medicare and Food Stamps. To all the rich GS members please feel free to go fuck yourself. I truly hate selfish bastards. I consider greed to be a sin. I hope someone superglues a dildo in your ass. But if it is made of gold rich gay guys will adore it.

I am so relieved to know that some straight kids still have a conscience. Gay guys should cut back their support for daddy porn, I annoys me. I loved my father. I am 65 and I am nobody's daddy. On another thread I pointed out there were 900 million gay sites. Hey guys maybe you overexaggerate the importance of gay men. I thought their might be an outbreak of homophobia. Just about now I may decide to lead it. Good luck all you fat rich gay guys.

THIS IS MY STUPID POST---YOU DON"T WANT TO READ IT

If people felt that the Global Economic Community was in danger of collapse there would be a fairly easy way to avert that catastrophe. The GEC is currently headquartered on the island of Manhattan south of 96th St to Battery Park. That particular piece of property is worth more than the US deficit when you remember to throw in the gold deposits and the contents of all safety deposit boxes.

The people who own the GEC are brilliant manipulators and sociopaths and are easily bullied. They are also lacking in many of the basic skills of life. None know how to use public transportation, none know how to negotiate a supermarket check out line, none know how to do laundry, cook, sew, bake, drive cabs, or just about anything normal people do, Since they pay over $3000 for a monthly garage space they cannot be bothered with small details like unemployment or bill paying, Only little people as Leona Helmsley once said do stupid things like work for a living.

To avert the collapse of the GEC we would have to inconvenience these people for several weeks or months with a program of nonviolent demonstrations coupled with civil disobedience. If hundreds of thousands of people showed up on Manhattan every day all they would have to do is siit down somewhere and inconvenience the people who live on Manhattan, If pretty much every door to every building were blocked life would get difficult. If demonstrators wished to avoid loitering charges they could simply go from one store on Fifth Ave to the next .taking turns and making sure customers could not get in or out comfortably.

At no point should public transportation be blocked. The subways of New York are critical. If trucks could not cross bridges or tunnels, food supplies and medicines could still arrive by subway. If the people of Manhattan are bullied I think Wall St will crack.

I grew up on Manhattan north of 96th St and like all normal kids in America we hated NEW YORKERS. Their goddamn limousine drivers would aim at us playing stickball or any other stupid game we could event in the 1950's. We cheered every time we bounced a rock off a Mercedes, Rolls and Cadillac. In the 1950's Wall St was afraid of working class kids. Like every other white born and raised in Harlem it seemed like a good idea to keep some checks and balances on NEW YORKERS. They had no more in common with me than people from Upper Volta or the Klingon Home World. I always thought of myself as American and I despised their utter indifference for America, I thought guys could resolve anything with a handshake, a hug, a quick kiss or maybe a punch in the mouth.

Guys if the island of Manhattan, which has been has become the island of every convenience to sociopaths, is closed down those bastards will collapse like a pile of shit. Please remember that Manhattan and Long Island are separated from the mainland of the United States. And not one of those bastards gives a damn about the world or anyone in it. Threaten to seize the island and pay off the national debt with all the goodies they have stored on that island. They will issue orders to make things right with the workers the way they did when Roosevelt threatened a socialist takeover, Within weeks the media on 6th Avenue will cheer for workers, Both parties will support the middle class. Madison Ave will lower prices by firing Rush Limbaugh and everyone like him. IT WILL WORK.Gandhi was no tough guy. Neither was Martin Luther King.

Finally to prove how utterly insane I am, I want a few gay leaders to emerge and achieve national prominence, I don't even care what nation they reside in. A terrific gay leader from Canada or UK could be constantly promoted by gay Americans in the media. We have a lot of gay muscle guys. We need gay leaders. In the late 1970's I lived in San Francisco and thought gays might take control of the world. It was as wild a feeling going up as it was going down when AIDS hit us like a runaway train. WE had very good gay leaders in SF and I still mourn their loss. We are entitled to something more than a quilt for our contribution to the world. Particularly when we had to make the quilt ourselves, I am angry we have no gay leaders ramming the truth down everyone's throat about the contributions we have made to civilization. Too many gay kids are being told they should be embarrassed about being gay by goddamn ignorant people who know nothing about us, Screw that, they know but enjoy being liars who work for sociopaths who pretend to be heterosexuals who don't really like having sex with guys.

Guys the world is out of balance and leaning towards ignorance. Let's give it a shove in the direction of the truth. Feel free to file some more infractions against me. I realize I piss off gay guys almost as much as strait guys. And don't forget to vote against me in the poll,.. I doubt anyone read this far. Good night.

PS I hope you feel insulted.

Normally I wouldn't read a discussion on Wall St because quite frankly I couldn't give a shit about wall st as it has absolutely no impact on my life what so ever. I'm not rich, I'm comfortable.

I only replied because Gilhooly, you insist on making a HUGE fool of yourself with putrid, malevolent rants.

The world doesn't revolve around Wall St...hell the world doesn't even revolve around the USA, so get over yourself.

John,

I'm sorry you feel you need to goad people into replying to your posts. Friends are nicer than enemies and friendships don't always indicate inertia Wink You know full well I enjoy reading your posts. I am not buttering you up when I say they are always thought-provoking and often very funny. However, I do have to save reading your messages until I feel strong enough to deal with them!!

What surprises me about the Wall Street occupation is that we are not hearing more about it. There has always been a news hierarchy. The more we are supposed to like a country the less likely we are to hear about challenges to its status quo. We like ourselves a lot. I have taken part in several demonstrations in our capital city recently and direct action in London receives almost no publicity at all. Everyone knows you don't feed trolls and demonstrators. We all crave attention.

Maybe I am a sociopath, it's not my call to make. I'm struggling, though, to define a person who lived on £3,000 last year as rich. My preferred term would be genius. I could do with losing a bit of weight though ... Drums

Gay leaders? We are fighting for acknowledgement that we are actually people in many parts of the world, but let's have a look at what Time magazine is reporting about gay leaders in Europe:
  • Johanna Sigurdardottir, Prime Minister of Iceland;
  • Eleven openly gay men and women now serve in the British Parliament, including two in the Cabinet;
  • Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture in France;
  • Paris' Mayor Bertrand Delanoë, tipped by some to contest the 2012 presidential race;
  • Guido Westerwelle, chairman of Germany's Free Democratic Party and his country's Foreign Minister;
  • The mayors of Berlin and Hamburg, Germany's two largest cities.

We've a long way to go still, but maybe your own views are coloured by what you see closer to home?
Quote:Of the 511,000 elected offices in the U.S. — from local school boards way up to President — openly gay men and women occupy just 450 of them, according to the U.S.-based Victory Fund, an organization that offers financial support to gay political candidates. No openly gay person has ever sat in the Senate, and only three hold seats in the House of Representatives.

The gap between the U.S. and Europe doesn't just exist at the top: 49% of Americans polled by the Pew Research Center in 2007 believed that society should "accept" homosexuality. Contrast that with attitudes in Europe where more than 80% of French, Germans and Spaniards had such a view. Only Catholic and conservative Poles felt as uncomfortable with the idea as Americans. Denis Dison, a spokesman for the Victory Fund, says those attitudes can make it difficult for gay people to campaign — let alone obtain office. "In places where the climate isn't friendly, it's hard for them to even go into a town hall meeting or public forum because they get such nasty questions."

Boy, you really just cannot help yourself, can you? No, we have many "gay leaders" as you describe them in the U.S. In my own conservative little part of America, we have already had an openly gay mayor.

But to address the topic at hand, I believe that Gilhooly is making a distinction between politicians and social movement leaders, as he mentioned Dr. Martin Luther King and Gandi and then spoke of San Francisco in the 70's (which is when Harvey Milk came to prominence). I think he is looking for another person to be assassinated for a cause, a martyr in the grand Biblical tradition.

Gilhooly, I read your original post and thought the idea ludicrous, still do, as the idea of flooding Manhattan with bodies to inconvenient people is absurd. If Washington D.C--a much smaller city--wasn't flooded by the Million Man March, Manhattan will not be flooded by a few thousand protestors. I am, however, a fan of the protests and shall be joining the local protests in my small town this weekend.

I regret that I cannot afford to join in the "deluge" in New York for you, as tickets for the 2000 mile trip are quite beyond what I can reasonably take from my piggy bank.

Not at all.

It's the internet, I don't get insulted by someone I don't know spouting off.

Rolleyes

I wish I was as rich as you assume. I'm only an hour drive from NYC, but I have a job, and I have bills to pay. That's more important to than protesting in NYC.
