Problem with people at work...
#1
Ok...I will try not to make this too long.

As most of you know, I recently started a food-service business. I am renting space in a commercial kitchen where I prepare the food and where I park my food-service trailer.

Soon after I arrived at the commercial kitchen, I had trouble with a couple who own a hotdog cart who also rent space at the kitchen. They kept parking their cart in my designated parking spot and refused to move it. I reported it to the kitchen manager and he talked to them and made them move their cart.

The next day, someone had put nails in my tires. I suspected that it was them, but I had no proof, so,I decided to just let it go.

The next week, I caught the flu so I was out form work for a few days. When I returned, "someone" had unplugged the electricity from my cart. I lost several hundred dollars worth of seafood. Even though there are fail-safe connections on the electrical connections, I had no way to prove who unplugged it, so I let it go.

Yesterday, I discovered that there is a local licenses I haven't gotten yet that I should have. I asked a couple of the other food-service business owners about it and they explained that they were aware of the license but that they didn't have one either and suggested I not worry about it until I had the money to pay for it. The couple who I had trouble with in the past were working ajacent to where I was working and must have over heard me, because.....when I arrived at my new location this morning (first time I have EVER been there), an official from the City was waiting for me with a citation for not having the previously mentioned licenses.

Now, I cannot work again until the license comes through (5-7 days).

I don't know WHAT this couple's damage is! Well...I do suspect that they are methamphetamine addicts (they look really strung out a lot of the time), but I mean their problem with me.

I am pretty much near the end of my rope! Sad

UGH...The only way to battle them is to go into the sewer that they operate from and it is never worth it....

Can you find another location?

I think it is best to get as far away from them as possible. They will most likely hang themselves soon enough....those kind of people always do....so can you wait them out elsewhere?

Commercial kitchens are in short supply here. I have been looking for a new one for a while, but haven't been able to find anything I can even come close to affording. To top it all off, the guy who owns the one I am at is raising the rent in 2 months....

UGH (again)...OK..time to start thinking outside the box....

For instance..is there a company you could hook up with int he meantime to build you business?

I don't know how industry is there but here in Silicon Valley is is common to have vendors working from a company kitchen to provide alternatives for the employees....

How about state or city parks or venues? Fairgrounds? Event Centers? College Campus?

Nothing like that here, unfortunately. I have some thoughts though....
I don't feel comfortable posting my ideas online. Let's just say revenge is a dish best served by a food-service professional...

Well if there's one thing, the '''''mystery''''' trouble makers are persistent... Bad for you, but bad for them too. Because if they keep doing this shit, it means you might be able to catch them at it next time.

I'm not sure of the set up of the area or laws about filming etc etc but are you either able to;
1) Stakeout to try and catch them up to sabotage
2) Film the area to get them on camera
...or something else?

What a pain in the ass though, I hope this ends well soon. Keep us updated.

I've witnessed all kinds of politics at a commercial kitchen near me that rents out time to small producers. Eventually they had to put in a video surveillance system at the kitchen. That put a stop to some of the antics. A conversation with the kitchen manager might be in order.

You can also get a spy cam to put on your cart for anywhere from $100 on up. That would enable you to identify the perpetrators and then consider what action to take next.

Keep persevering!
