If you're only chatting for about a week now, he's really free to see and do what he chooses.

He really only owes you explanations if you were in a monogamous relationship together. Until that happens, he's free to chat and flirt with whoever he chooses.

And as someone who has done the long-distance thing (twice) I can tell you it's hard to maintain.

We talked on the phone today about my situation and we are meeting for lunch tomorrow.  Guess we will see how things go meeting face to face. I do agree with all you say.

I think (from personal experience and observation) that flirting means different things to different people so it might be less invasive and more of a conversation to maybe discuss flirting and see how he views it and maybe see how you view it as well.
