alzmqpBody hair embarrassment
#1
Hi  Shy I'm 28 years old. I would like to ask you how to stop being ashamed of my body hair, especially the one on my chest? My chest hair pattern is something between PS and PSI (a little more than PS, less than PSI). As a rule, I don't wear v-neck and other shirts that expose my chest hair, because I'm ashamed of showing it. You'll probably find this strange, but for example, I haven't worn shorts for years because I'm ashamed to show the hair on my legs. I am also ashamed to be unshaven at work. There are more such examples.

I am ashamed to show my body hair both in front of family, friends and others. I can't somehow overcome my resistance - I think some people would think it's disgusting and unfine. What is interesting, while I'm ashamed to show that I am quite hairy, in case of other men I find body hair extremely sexy and exciting. Thus, I don't want to shave my body hair, I just want to stop feeling embarrassment. What would you advise me?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

this is a hard question to answer, because in my opinion, the only answer is to learn to accept yourself.

I'm a hairy guy as well, and I've never felt the need to shave or 'manscape' what I have. It's who I am.

May I ask to whom or to what beauty standard are you comparing yourself to? Without having to disclose who I am or what I do for a living - it's not important, it is normal for an individual to dislike some or many parts of its physical self, but often the discomfort with your self-image comes from comparing yourself to something or someone that you secretely wish to ressemble. So you have high pelosity, you hate it, but you're attracted to those with high pelosity. So what's your reason?

When did you first start feeling ashamed of your body hair? I don't want to make any assumptions but many of our triggers and how we react to the world are either something we're born with or we get it from our environment (parents, friends, experiences, etc).

Hi @alzmqp

This is a tricky one. I think you would need to start by trying to think when these feelings started and what might have caused them. It is interesting that you find body hair sexy on other people but you are ashamed of your own body hair.

Some men find hair undesirable, especially in places such as your back, with chest and leg hair being more desired for some. I used to shave my back hair but gave that up as I got older as I learned just to embrace it, for me, it is clearly meant to be there!

Exploring the reasons for your feelings is the first step. Then you can work on overcoming them. Most men are hairy in some regard, and that is nothing to be ashamed of. And I think the vast majority wouldn't go as far to think body hair is disgusting.

Like all things, it comes down to personal preference. I'm naturally not hairy. I pretty much keep my upper body bare, I buzz my legs once in a while, but that hair doesn't really bother me
