The Truth About drugs

All I will say is people don't necessarily take drugs because they are feeling blue or have something to cover up or to fit in or anything else. Someone just do them because they enjoy them. While different drugs have different effects with different people, it is always the worst case scenarios are played off as they are the usual or most common scenarios.

In particular with marijuana, they say they went to A&E, but not what had happened to them. There has never been a recorded death due to it. All the ever need to do is go for a lie down. Hell they give the stuff to cancer patients to help relieve pain, if there was a serious danger with it, they wouldn't do that.

I don't want to push people to do drugs, it's just what is put out there at the moment is completely biased. There are some fantastic documentaries that look at all sides and I believe in the uk Channel 4 are going trying to have a tv series where people take various drugs, they record it and see what happens. In a controlled environment though.

I was raised to think everything was bad, the truth is, it's not necessarily bad, some people are more susceptible to addictions, and those are the ones that OD. What I would say is if anyone considers anything to have someone who has experience in it before hand to be with you and who you trust, if you don't that is when problems start.

When I was put in group therapy for cutting my fellow groupmates were ALL drug abusers. Now it was rather annoying that my issue was only loosely linked to theirs but I met a group of interesting and half of them were really annoying but anyway that's all irrelevent. The therapist said: No one uses drugs for any reason other than to self-medicate. One person in the group claimed that he never did that until she put the notion in his head. I can honestly say I did not try drugs to self-medicate. I tried them out of curiosity. Why did I continue? I enjoyed the feelings of getting high. Never got addicted.

I don't drink often anymore, not that I ever did, but even less than I did before. Mostly because I can't afford to spend money on alcohol and while I've never blacked out I've been pretty drunk enough to feel like SHIT in the morning. I hate that feeling so if I ever drank I'd drink less. Now I only drink at special occassions and I'll allow myself to get tipsy but I only get drunk once in a blue moon.

Recently 99% of the time if I smoke pot it's to help me fall asleep and even those times have been very rare. The other 1% is the occassionaly time with groups of friends assuming I will not be driving home or even going out in public.

You can't say that it's impossible to be a functional, contributing member of society while doing drugs and I feel like that's always trying to be covered up in efforts to fight the war on drugs and it really makes me resent it. Also it's not often mentioned, at least in my experience that people who are addicted to drugs have deeper issues that NEED to be resolved for the addiction to end. The drug is just their bandaid and taking off the bandaid doesn't heal the wound.

I think the intetions of this thread were all good and I'm not arguing against the thread. I just felt a little more needed to be said than what was mentioned in the leaflet because I felt it really didn't represent the reality of the "drug world." and the bulletted reaons listed I felt were kind of..making it look like there's not more to it.

Alcohol. I dislike this drug. Makes people stupid and do stupid things and if you compare it to marijuana well no bongs don't seem so bad.
Also studies have shown
