Gay insinuations from Strangers
#11
I'll ask J.B. Faulconer how he deals with it. He told me once about something his wife said about him being closeted gay that was kinda funny. He's like me though, our biggest problem is that we're both addicted to gay porn. It's funny, even in our Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, I'll look over at JB and he's looking at his iPhone and I know he's looking at gay porn same as me. I have to check out gay porn constantly. It's starting to cause me problems, especially at AA meetings here in Lexington.

Anyone have any suggestions that might help?

I think its just the way people are. If two guys walk into a store together, and one is obviously gay, they just assume you both are and that you're a couple. People are funny that way. But hey, I'm guilty of it too.

I have experienced a reverse version of this.

I was in a course on sexuality and politics once and the guy sitting next to me turned to me once before class and said "It's nice to see forward thinking straight guys in classes like this." Usually I'm sufficiently camp to avoid such unseemly assumptions.

I've never had any assumptions made about me... I kinda look like a lumber jack though, so no one assumes stuff like that. lol

Sometimes people base their insinuations on how you look. At work there's a uniform, so no one really assumes anything. I'm not really out at work; I've been out at other jobs before, but those were under different circumstances. The two jobs I have now I don't really talk much about myself; I just work there and they don't really need to know about my personal life. No one really asks anyways.

It's funny all my friends tell me that it's impossible for me to play 'straight', but at work everyone still thinks I am.

Outside of work though; I am fully out. I dress pretty ..out there. Not really big into labels and what not. I much prefer really baggy pants/wideleg-jeans, t-shirt, a hat and skater shoes. [Which is probably why even gay guys avoid me, lol]

I remember for awhile, when I was really close to my straight guy friend before he moved away. We'd always be together and go out to events together, so much so that people assumed that me and him were dating. God, I wish. I remember a friend came up to me and asked me, "Is that you boyfriend..?" I busted out laughing..! I'm glad that my straight-guy friend thought it was funny too and pretty much went along with it. Haha, fun times.

Damn, all my stories here have such bittersweet memories involved Rolleyes haha
