I am heavily into advertising and politics. I have never seen a message board such as GaySpeak.com. There is a warm feeling of community to the site, and there does not seem to be the mean type enemies I have seen in other message boards.

I hope my contribution to the board will be a sense of GLBT history, GLBT politics, and one who enhances the feeling of community we have here. I hope to accomplish this without disrupting the relaxing atmosphere of this wonderful site. This beautifully done intro to the show Mad Men depicts the mysterious world of free floating in the manic depression known as an Advertising Agency. Caution do not get too close, creativity is contagious. Well done Mathew Wiener on conveying so much in this intro to Mad Men.

Found GS through google

It's a nice place., nice, kind friendly people. No trolls or mean-spirited posts. No solicitations ( ie, are you interested in a new vacuum cleaner, want Viagra without a prescription, etc.)

Andy is the best webmaster, you can actually talk to him

Good people!

I've been single for about four years now. I honestly think there's something wrong with me. What's a guy to do to find someone?

I once thought that appearances didn't really matter that much nowadays. I bathe every day, brush my teeth, and am generally friendly. What is wrong? I'm just ranting here.

There is nothing wrong with you.

I live by a rule, i assume every guy is straight unless they tell me otherwise, i think this rule actually goes out amongst alot of gay men, simply because making a pass at some straight men is the last thing some gay men ever get to do, before they are beaten the crap out of and watch their confidence flutter out the window.

See the world is too judgemental for its own good, acceptance is what we been fighting for all these years.

It is because of this lack of acceptance that gay men find it hard to find other gay men.

Going to a gay bar or club might be one way, but if your like me, ive never been to a gay bar or club, because of where i live, i know so many people, i will probably disappear and never be found again, if these people found out i was gay... *yes still a little in the closet, for safety reasons mainly*

but give you a idea dude, you could be a great attractive guy, walking down a street, another guy walks towards you and you both make eye contact but because you fear the other might be straight you make nothing of it and keep walking on.

Now i aint saying broadcast yourself everywhere, but the best way i found is coming to places like this, finding friends, meetings friends of those friends, and soon before you know it your got a network going, and by some chance you meet someone, then all is well, you avoided bodily harm and you made good friends along the way.

It all a matter of time, and exercising patiences on a daily basis.

I too found GS through a google search. I was confused as hell about my life and sexuality and just needed someone to tell me that what I was going through was normal and maybe explain to me how I could reconcile my thoughts and feelings for other men with a 13 year straight marriage. What I found was friendship, compassion, and understanding. I am eternally grateful for everything you all have done for me. Smile

I found it on Bing Search, one of those odd "I need to search for this" hunches that I've learned to listen to. For whatever reason, fate, my guides, angels, whatever knew I needed to join the site.

I've gained a lot being here, good advice (even if it isn't always directed at me) a few really cool friends and, I hope I've at least made a few of you smile or, given you a new perspective on a few things. Smile
