I'm arsonphobic- I hate guys who are flaming!
#21
How about ya quit calling out people based on one trait and just call them a bad person? I seriously hate this fucking term; flamers. It needs to be retired. The guy was jerk and a dickwad that was fucking it ok. We know this; don't call him a flamer its a stupid freaking term which is used to belittle feminine gays even if people sit there and say there's a difference. Its where the word came from ok

No offence but over the top guys annoy me, I'm a low key guy and I don't need anyone like that in my presence. I know the area I'm from the gay scene isn't fans of 'flamers' or ridiculously over the top and in your face feminine guys. I've seen quite a few times if one of these guys gets out of hand they just get told to shut the fuck up. Lol

Like East said[or my interpretation Confusedmile: ], I personally believe I've had it harder being "Flamboyant" or over the top, then I would have, had I been like most of you guys, more low key and not so much like how I am now and most "flamers" probably have more balls for that reason. But then again, I wouldn't be me...

My only problem, is the discriminatory factor, when even other gays bash or ridicule flamboyant men, because they are ashamed of who we are, or perhaps because they are jealous or maybe even ashamed of themselves, because they cannot be as strong.

Not to say being who you are, makes you any better or worse then someone else.

East for instance, does not strike me as "over the top flamboyant", but yet, he's comfortable enough with them and accepts them, even if he himself does not find the sexually attractive or whatever. And most importantly, he's not discriminating or ridiculing.

There seems to be an uncomfortablility factor lurking around perhaps, in men who cannot find it within them to find acceptance, if not tolerance, of someone who could've easily been them, had the cards been dealt differently.

I certainly do not discriminate against low key, "average joe" guys, just because they aren't like me.

I try to find the beauty in all people and love them, even when they can sometimes piss me all the way off.

I'm not too fond of anyone too flammable. Its nothing personal but its just that I feel its an unwanted attention grabber for anyone near them. Just my HO. And yes that means honest opinion lol

Just to be clear I was only referring to the rudeness. I have no problem with someone really flamboyant, whether it's about being gay (or straight, though I do wonder about those who really, really want the world to know they're straight  ) anymore than those who are really flamboyant about other interests (football, TV shows, Star Trek or Star Wars, gamers, and others who advertise their obsessions to the world). And I really don't mind them, they're a nice break from the conformity around me and lets me know we're not living a society of pod people. Confusedmile:

Granted I'm not likely to get that close to many of them unless we share interests in common (and I like Firefly, Buffy, and the L Word, but I'd get tired talking about it all the time), but I still think they add a little color to the scenery, and can sometimes admire their confidence to put themselves out there like that. I won't tolerate rudeness though, and generally see that as a sign of insecurity (though I can often tell the difference between holding others in contempt and just being blunt and I'm usually ok with blunt, even if it's not always advised).

Sometimes people act loud and flamboyant because deep inside, they're hiding a sad soul. If you find yourself needlessly disliking someone like that, you might want to think about two things...

1 - do you think you can put up with the act long enough to get to know the real guy within?
2 - even if not, should you waste a shred of energy hating someone, than laughing and rolling with it, or just avoiding that person?

I range from extremely flamboyant, to extremely reserved. It depends on who I'm with and whether I just want to have a laugh, usually at my own expense, or be the sort of manly responsible person that I need to appear to be (mostly for my own benefit.)

Call me manipulative. *shrug*
