Sorry to hear about your relationship and the break up, I too am facing similar situation, after almost 8 years also. The distance and time apart definitely plays a role, yet perhaps he would've been better fit in something like an open relationship, I know a few that lays quite a long time.

He should've been honest to you about wanting to sleep with someone else first instead of just acting on it. I hope you are doing better now after it all.

Anyone is capable of monogamy, whether they choose to remain monogamous is a different question. I think too many stereotypes about gay men give people the illusion that it doesn't happen.
