The world can't end on the 21st! That time of the year is just too darn busy for me!!!! Can it wait till February? (they seem to have had no trouble moving the date in the past lol)
No but seriously, some of my friends really think the worlds gonna go dark and the planets will align or some nonsense like that, and a black hole will end life as we know it...........sigh.
Oh well.. I'll be calling them at 12:01 12/22/12 laughing.

The descendants of the mayans that take part in the tradition of the mayan people state that they dont think the world will come to an end, they believe that a spiritual change will take place, and that the world we be different (if im not mistaken). Most of the ways people think the world will end on 12-21-12 involve silly ideas, such as quite a few people believe an asteroid is going to collide with earth. What most people fail to understand is that the person who originally said all of this was told by aliens that this is how the world will end. So i dont really see much merit in that idea. Ive been to the ruins in chichenitza (might be misspelled) and no doubt the mayan people were very smart and industrious people, but i dont put my faith in the world ending because their Callender stops

This is true, and actually quite entertaining, if you don't take any of it seriously. Unfortunately, some weak minded individuals do take it seriously.. and end up selling all of their belongings, etc etc..

This actually reminds me of the Herald Camping predictions, if anyone recalls that. He predicted the end several years ago.. around 1994 I believe, and he had a whole heard of followers buy into it. Of course, when the world didn't end, he claimed he misinterpreted the secret code of the Bible (or whatever), and that he would work on discovering the actual date. Then.. last year, he claimed the world would end in May, and when it didn't.. he basically said "Oops, I actually meant October 21st." When nothing, yet again happened.. his assistant put out a basic apology and never touched the issue again. The sad thing is though, I remember seeing how so many people actually bought into these predictions.. and how their lives were actually effected. A few families actually sold everything they had.. so they could "donate" to his church to get the word out about the end/rapture.

It's all pretty sad when you think about it... but as far as the end goes, as far as I'm concerned it will never be in a single day or night.. but after a long, drawn out process.. probably due to us screwing up the earth we live on.
