Anime, anyone?
#51
I dont particularly care for anime.......I dont like the "choppy" way the action and mouth movements are.

BUT...

I do have some favorites I really love....simply because of the characters and story lines....

Pilot Candidate (I have the dvd series, although they never finished the series)
Cowboy Bebop (LOVE these guys)
Big O (although Im not a fan of the mega robots)
Inu Yahsa
Shin Chan

I kind of like Trigun too.

My favorite anime movie is

Tokyo Godfathers

SolemnBoy Wrote:Seele's intentions are vaguely explained but humanity's existence on earth was never meant to be for reasons that would take a lot of time to explain. This information, however, does not exist in the anime and was only explained in some of the games. So in short you could say they're correcting that mistake by having humanity evolve into one entity.

There's also a lot of religious symbols scattered throughout the series/film which seems to bear absolutely no relevance to anything that's going on in the story. The word "pretentious" is thrown around a lot but having symbolism that ultimately doesn't mean anything is nothing but that. As far as I'm concerned at least. I mean, of course it's possible that it actually meant something and I didn't see it, in which case I'd be wrong Smile

I see your point. Even most of what I've learned about the back story came from interviews and commentaries, and they only scratch the surface of the amount of research it would take to learn where the symbols originated and what they originally meant to express.
But I still have fun counting to three or seven throughout the series. Smile

Rawr Wrote:Has anyone seen Natsume Yuujinchou? I'm thinking about watching it and I'm quite on the fence.

It's ok, a little bit too precious at moments for my tastes.

It has a lot of similarity with Mushishi, which I'm more fond of.

I haven't seen neither, but both are on my to watch list. I think Kino's Journey sounds as if it would be better due to the reviews I've read.

I enjoy anime quite a bit, but I've only really been introduced to a few. I thought Inuyasha was a good love story even if the characters sometimes lacked depth. I think the main storylines were only strengthened by that fact much like in Bleach, which I also enjoyed. Cowboy Bebop blew my socks off with excellent combat flow and illustration, reinforced by a solid soundtrack, and a roller coaster of a story. I don't chase action scenes in anime, but it seems how they illustrate combat in general greatly affects my judgement of it. Some other that I quite liked: Gundam Wing (and Endless Waltz), Full Metal Alchemist (both the original and Brotherhood), Solar Wing Aquarion, and Trigun.

Unfortunately some of the names have been forgotten. Based off of my list do any of you have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it! I keep trying to branch out to new anime but I find it maddening trying to sort through all of it Tongue

After watching the first season of Natsume Yuujinchou, I can safely say it's now one of my favorites XD

@Darunzahn, have you seen Code Geass? I think you may enjoy that.

I have seen some episodes and thought it was interesting, but at the time of knowing the name I couldn't find a way to watch it. Now I'll just stream it on a site Smile Thanks Rawr for reminding me of it!

Some that I really enjoyed were Angel Beats, Soul Eater, FLCL (super short) and even though it's drawn by a hentai artist that loves jiggly jelly boobs High School of the Dead is good.

I like anime with good battles that range from general martial arts to over the top LoL
