Private Messaging for newbies

Hello, how to set your private messaging and be able to use it straight away... (how dare I use such words as STRAIGHT??? )
This is in the User CP (see orange bar)
or go to http://www.gayspeak.com/forum/profile.ph...ditoptions
then look at the private messaging section of your user Control Pannel. That's where you can decide how you want to have the Private Messaging set...

There you will find these indications:
Private Messaging
This forum features a private messaging system, which allows members to send messages to one another privately.

If you do not want to send or receive private messages, you may disable the private messaging system. Enable Private Messaging (tick or untick)
You may limit the receipt of private messages to just moderators and those on your buddy list. Other members who attempt to send messages to you will be told that you have disabled private messaging.Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators (tick or untick)
The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages (tick or untick)
If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message.Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up (tick or untick) Tick this one if you want the PM to pop-up while you're reading (or writing?) on the forum

You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.

1 * Show Signatures (tick or untick)
2 * Show Avatars (tick or untick)
3 * Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code) (tick or untick)

thread display mode
Here you can choose the display mode for threads. For a full explanation of the modes, please view this help page.
Here's the choice from the menu:

1 * Linear - Oldest First
2 * Linear - Newest First
3 * Threaded
4 * Hybrid

number of posts to show per page
Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages.
Here's the choice from the menu:

1 * Use Forum Default
2 * Show 5 Posts Per Page
3 * Show 10 Posts Per Page
4 * Show 20 Posts Per Page
5 * Show 30 Posts Per Page
6 * Show 40 Posts Per Page

Default thread age cut off
You may specify a time period from which to display threads. Threads older than the age you specify will not be shown.
Here's the choice from the menu:

1 * Use Forum Default
2 * Show threads from last day
3 * Show threads from last 2 days
4 * Show threads from last week
5 * Show threads from last 10 days
6 * Show threads from last 2 weeks
7 * Show threads from last month
8 * Show threads from last 45 days
9 * Show threads from last 2 months
9 * Show threads from last 75 days
10 * Show threads from last 100 days
11 * Show threads from last year
12 * Show all threads
