Idiot warnings.

Nick9 Wrote:Hm. You know you have to boil water to make coffee. When your partner makes you tea and you knock the cup into your lap, will you sue? I fail to see the difference. You won't be served warm tea or coffee in any other restaurant either. At least I hope so.

They were serving coffee at a temperature unfit for human consumption (at 20-30 C higher than the temperature most establishments serve coffee at), had received numerous complaints to the effect, and were notified by experts that their coffee was served at a dangerous temperature. If you are serving coffee in a drive-through setting in flimsy cups, you have to know that spilling is likely to happen occasionally. If you know spills are likely to be a common and frequent occurrence, you have partial responsibility not to serve the coffee at a temperature where an incidental spill can cause life-threatening burns. Furthermore, people should have a reasonable expectation when buying coffee at a McDonald's that the coffee will not be dangerously hot.

Well, I disagree, but there is no point in arguing. I just hope the car she was sitting in had some warning labels too, because as you said, when you are not careful, accidents do happen.

And if that car was not built to safety standards a company would be semi-culpable for accidents with their vehicles.

Hm. As far as I know there is a warning on the cup, that the content is hot. Just like there is a warning on a kitchen knife that it is sharp.
For me, it's enough to know that if I burn myself/cut myself, it will be MY fault. As far as I know there has never been a trial like that in my country. Perhaps, it's a matter of a different mentality.

if the coffee is hot enough that you get third or second degree burns when it spills , then it's definitely too hot and that is the fault of the company / whoever made it , not yourself.

Would you not sue if McDonald's coffee did this to you?

Be cautious of these news stories about "frivolous" lawsuits, often it is propaganda promoted by corporate interests in order to undermine the power of the average citizen to seek justice for corporations that recklessly abuse their clients.

Yeah, but SHE put the coffee between her legs and SQUEEZED!

The McDonalds employees did not put the coffee between her legs and then smash them together...THIS WOMAN DID THIS TO HERSELF.

Hot coffee is supposed to be HOT. And youre a freeking RETARD if you put it between your legs and SQUEEZE! You definately get what you deserve for being a moron and retard.

Cars come with cupholders. It was HER decision NOT to use it.

Today, I noticed that my frozen pizza had the warning "Do not eat while still frozen" on it and my first thought was who would be dumb enough to try and eat it while it was still frozen?
