Chas Wrote:Have a look at some of the replies in this thread, I didn't target a particular person when I said what I did. Regardless of political views a man took his own life and will leave behind a trail of hurt from family and close friends. Those congratulating this guy clearly have no respect for this him otherwise they would be more saddened by what happened.
No one is asking you to feel sorry for this guy, but some of the responses in this thread are just disgusting and show the true colours of some of those within the lgbt community itself. Emulating the attitudes that others have shown us in the past is not the right way to go about things.
I'm sorry. I DO appreciate where you are coming from and understand your desire to be emotionally equitable and "pc", but (for me) hearing about a person who's driving goal in life (to the point of death) is subjugation of people like myself going and "passing himself away" is good news. I hope it becomes a trend!
Why? Because people like this dastard are the reason LGBT teens kill themselves EVERY DAY.
EVERY SINGLE DAY our kids are bullied, tortured, and abused by bastards just like this guy.

so , wouldn't it have been better if he had been taught why his views were idiotic and wrong ? and if he had learnt that and felt remorse over the pain he had caused people (both directly and indirectly) with his anti-gay views ?
his death doesn't change the fact that he was homophobic . his views don't change the fact that he was a human being with the right to believe whatever he wanted . just because he was a crazy homophobe does not mean that he deserved to die or that anyone should celebrate his death .
yes , every day people are bullied and abused by homophobes . but that doesn't mean we should celebrate the death of one person . it means we should work harder to teach these homophobes that we are normal and that they should feel guilt for the pain they have caused many of us .

Why should I feel sorry for a guy who basically wanted us all dead. Sorry can't do it. If that makes me evil. I'm evil. I can't wait for most extremists to die off. How's that? I have no love for any of those evil fucks. Some people are just scumbags. Who the world could do without.

I'm not celebrating his death, I'm laughing at it. Furthermore, though I appreciate your humane outlook, this guy was WAY old enough to be aware of the hurt he cause by his actions, the fact of the matter is that he didn't care. Do you think the Nazis didn't know that they were causing hurt and anguish to the Jews? They knew and didn't care. No amount of "education" would have changed that. Same goes for these extreamists. Jmo.

age has nothing to do with it . some people realize on their death beds that they've made mistakes in life . some people realize when they're teenagers .
some people can't be redeemed , sure . but that doesn't mean we should stop trying completely and celebrate or laugh when an extremist homophobe dies . him being dead doesn't do anything . him being educated and changing his views would . so i think , rather than rejoicing in the death of one of these people , we should focus on getting our rights sorted out and making LGBT things as normal a part of society as we can , to encourage homophobes to realize that they are wrong ~

Know something......I admire the humane view too. But with these people I just can't do it. I have not had a rosy outlook in so long, lol

So its okay for someone to die or kill themselves because of their views opposing gays? Do you also associate that view on anything else or is it just this one thing?
Do you think that because I've said what I did that I've had no issues with people knowing that I'm gay? The person who was supposed to be my best friend tried to stab me a week after I came out because he didn't like it, assuming the usual rubbish that people do. He also convinced everyone else I knew to turn their back on me despite a couple of them having gay siblings, I spent a lot of time being a loner because of my sexuality and never reached out because I thought of myself being so independant. Do I think he deserves to die? No, thats just idiotic.
Also, the workplace where I came out was a very homophobic place to work in, I practically fought against a whole building of people just so I would have no more abuse from other coworkers. It took months of non stop fighting to finally be able to stand tall and just get on with my job without some smartarse throwing gay slurs at me. This was 5 days a week for 9 hours and not just some idiotic view by someone id most likely never meet, never would I have rejoiced if either one of those people died or killed themselves. I've told very little people outside of that building what actually happened while I was there, including my own family.

Him being dead does do something: it shows others like him how infantile and absurd this "War" they are waging really is. Meanwhile, as some folks are busy trying to convince homophobes that they are wrong, I will be living my (gay) life in the open (as I am want to do), feeling much better than I did when I woke up this morning due to a hearty laugh and the warm fuzzy feeling I get from knowing that there is one less person out there gunning for me!

The problem is that if gay people show any empathy toward this guy, I feel it like declaring a defeat of gay rights. I think the best thing we have to do is to take it with humour, maybe with anger, but please, no empathy, typically, that's the trap they want to bring French in with all that story.
I feel concerned because our rights in France are endangered with that strategy.
I may be an immoral guy but before all, I'm fed up of this scene for a right which is not restrictive for anyone.
I'm not delighted by his death (actually I don't care, I didn't even know who he was before that affair), but I'm more alarmed by what people are able to restrict gay rights.
