Hmm. I really like men in the city carrying umbrellas. It seems that I am the only one...

I have a heavy duty, handmade old umbrella. The little tag sewn inside says "Made in the UK".

It is a walking stick type umbrella. Beechwood shaft not tin or aluminum or plastic. Wood Handle, black cloth, its a gentleman's umbrella, a bit longer than typical umbrellas, thus its canopy has a lager diameter.

I only carry it in the winter (the rainy season).

It came with an umbrella 'stand' - an upright thingy with a tray on the floor, one hangs the 'brolly on that and the tray catches water. That broke on one of the moves long long ago.... So now I use a tall glass 'bottle' Jar thingy. That is about 30 inches high and served to hold umbrella, extra canes...

Its all very posh...

I bought it the first year I was in San Francisco... so its about 21 years old maybe older my mind is a bit foggy.

Those old UK made ones are marvellous. Really made to last and not be part of our disposable society.

Yes I can literally tell some of these kids 'I have socks older than you!'..... LOL

I think the manufacturing company for my 'prolly is Fox or something like that. I could be wrong. I'm not pulling it out, taking it outside and opening it to read the label. I just recall it was made in the UK and was handmade and it cost a pretty penny when I bought it. Sort of a 'major purchase' for me.

But it has lasted me two decades and appears to have at least two more decades of use left on it.

But it doesn't rain as much here as it does there, nor do we get the high winds typical of thunderstorms of other places.

Sort of a 'major purchase' for me.

That's what I am thinking about doing... But I have a problem, I love the look of the walking umbrellas, but it would be pain to carry it around all the time for "what ifs" The weather changes too quickly here.
