I seems to me that this guy might not be interested in your friend anyway. Maybe you should ask HIM if he is or not. Incidentally it seems to me that for anything to happen between them or between you two, there would have to be some form of mutual (or reciprocal) interest. The only person who can tell you if there is reciprocal interest is the gorgeous boy himself. That's what I'd find out. What I'd also be interested in knowing is whether he is, like your good friend, a person who likes to sleep about, or if he is looking for a bit of permanence. Since that seems to be what you are after, it might make sense to find out from HIM if he is into such things too ... and mutually interested in you. I don't think it would be great treason to your friend, especially if the gorgeous one was not looking for what your friend has to offer.
