When you realize you really don't have friends.

Confusedigh:

So the past few weeks up to now has been spent in introspection. I
hate getting into my own head, but I can't help it, and the issue of
friends has come up.

My friends circle has gotten small over the years mainly because I've
slowed down in the partying department. And I feel like the ones that
stuck around are the keepers, but the only problem is that most live far or have
already moved away across country.

I used to be able to drive to the ones that lived around New England, but
that's when I had a job and had a steady income. We keep in contact on
Facebook and through texting, which is fine, but when you see other people
and how they actually have their friends there with them, it kind of sucks.

I don't know, I think I'm just venting. I've just been stuck in this feeling for
a few weeks now. It just sucks to realize that when you think about it, you
don't really have friends to call on when your in some sort of problem, you
don't really have anyone to talk to even though your phone is filled with
all these numbers, and you get that sinking feeling that in the end it's just
you.

I have classes to focus on in a few days, maybe that'll keep my head
occupied for awhile. Maybe I'll make some acquaintances at school..

I do not have many friends. I spend much/most of my time working (I work from home, online).

I used to have many more friends back in my partying days; Those days have long ended, though.

I know how you feel. I hope things work out for you.

I know how you feel. For a long time I didn't have many friends and I was so busy with school and work I didn't have time to make any. You can always send me a PM if you feel lonely or need someone to vent to Big Grin

I have 5 friends, guess that needs a definition, these people would drop whatever they were doing, as I would for them, and come to my aid, Jim

I have never had many friends. Apparently Mother Nature, in her infinite stupidity, thinks I dont deserve more than one friend at a time.

The few friends I do have, that are more or less family now, have all moved away to other places, except for one.

And everybody else makes it more than difficult to even get friendly nowadays...so I dont even bother.
If someone wants to be friends with me, I let THEM make the first move. That way, if it doesnt work out, they only have themselves to blame.

Thanks for the replies..

..yeah, I've made a few really good friends. I know I can trust
them and vice-versa. It's just it's either they all live far away or they've
moved to the other side of the country.

All the friends that I used to hang out with nearby, well we've
all pretty much drifted apart. They all have a significant others
and with that usually comes a different group of friends and coupled
with work and being busy themselves.. It's just one of those things
that with time just ends up dissolving.

I've never considered anyone a best friend/s in a long time because
of the fear that once I do, they'll just end up leaving, moving, or worse
changing into a completely different person.

Oh well, I'm just gonna accept it and just keep in contacts with my fabulous
faraway friends. It's getting harder to make friends it seems, I mean I'm
only turning 26 in October, and I don't really have much patience for
people and their big bag of drama anymore.

Again, thanks everyone :]

I am fiercely independent. I learned long ago that no one can be trusted no one is nice and everyone is out to screw you over the first chance they get.

Thus I keep my friends to a very low minimum, and I am always waiting for them to show their true nature and when it happens its off with their head (figuratively speaking... unfortunately only figuratively).

At least you know the difference between friend and acquaintance - few people of your generation understand that difference.

BTW I have 3 friends in life - they have long demonstrated their 'value' and they earned the title friend....
