I have no idea when that happened, I noticed a big change in the flavor of the 'honey' a couple years ago, read the packet and was surprised. Of course I only eat KFC on rare occasions, maybe 4 times a year.
Well it is honey, and it isn't.
Since honey is expensive now, they buy what is called "honey flavored syrup".
This is a mixture of corn and sugar syrups, flavored with enough honey to give it a slight honey taste. 1, 8 oz. jar of real honey can "flavor" 1-2 gallons of syrup, depending on the strength of the real honey added.
I have also seen the change in the honey industry.
I too, rarely, eat at KFC anymore. The chicken parts have gotten smaller, and the prices have tripled. I go to Churches Fried Chicken. Still a decent price for decent sized chicken.
