Anti-rape clothing
#11
There are devices, self-defense advice, "don't-wear-that" and "don't-go-there" advice, etc for women, but when they will start arranging "do-not-rape" courses for men? No matter if you are potential rapist or not (and yes, I know very well that not every man is a rapist, just like not every woman will get raped), it would be necessary to participate if you for example work in an area with high possibility getting raped. Just a thought...

Ladies I agree 100% with the sentiment. Nobody should be raping anybody else, period. That said, to deny it's happening is probably not a good idea. I'd rather see my daughter take some sensible precautions when I am not around, than deal with helping her pick up the pieces afterward.

When I was in high school health class over 20 years ago, and even earlier than that in junior high, the point was very thoroughly made that no means no, and rape under any circumstance is not acceptable. I believe that at least where I live men all understand that it's a crime. So if educating men about rape is still necessary, maybe we need to take it to a new level and make it clear we'll be cutting their balls off if they cross the line. Because obviously for some the message is being ignored.

Studies show that resisting sexual assault lessens the chance of rape taking place without increasing the violence of the attack

That doesn't mean its not going to happen.

Thats totally ignorant!

They already showed everybody how to remove it!! So whats the safety in THAT?????
Thats like selling a victim to a murderer!!

And what about an emergency situation where paramedics had to get that off to save somebody??? They would be dead by the time they ever got the thing off of them!!

A good idea, but ignorant in too many aspects.

You want to stop rape? Execute every rapist.

This is the only anti-rape gear I know of...

Executing every rapist would be somewhat effective until new rapists came of age and thought they could get away with it, too. And no doubt some of them would not only try but succeed.

Not saying the idea is without merit. I'm in favor of some downright inhuman torture for rapists. I'm also so distrustful of the government and courts that I have little doubt they would torture and kill the wrong person in a lot of cases.

I think this is brilliant! In an ideal world, we could just teach people not to rape in the first place, but we certainly don't live in that ideal world. It's also bullshit to tell women just "not to dress slutty" or to "not put themselves in that situation" or whatever.

I've also personally seen just how successful anti-rape education can be. In the USA military, there's mandatory and periodical education about it. Even with that, rape happens all over the place within the military. Life outside of the military is just that much worse because people get away with it more. It's disgusting.

This may not be the perfect solution, and it shouldn't be needed, but at least it gives women more options without making a major sacrifice in the way they live their lives. Nobody should have to live in fear of being raped just for participating in public life.

i remeber that south african invention that was a hard female condom that had rows of sharp hooks in them to stun men when they raped someone. That way, they had to go to hospital and be convicted of rape.

as practical as these might be, it just sends a sad message. The way I see it, things like this make sex a battleground.

Im not saying there are NOT going to be rapists, there are always some shitbags who think they can get away with it......BUT.......

If you make the punishment MORE of a punishment and not a slap on the back of the hand, and then 5 years with FREE room, FREE food, and FREE work out facilities......they will think on it a lot harder before considering such an act.

As far as the government is concerned, they ALREADY torture and kill the wrong people as it is, and have done for millenia.
