I'm not quite sure I understand the reasoning behind this. It seems rather absurd to force someone to have a certain number of posts before they can post an image, or participate in the chatbox. Also, why must my replies in the advice section need moderator approval prior to going public?
GS is a good forum, but it does have some peculiar and exclusive oddities :/

All forums have their ways.
I get the idea that the restrictions during the first 50 posts are to give the admin a chance to week out troublemakers. It really is not all that bad and seems to work.. I am grateful for the relatively placid ambiance. Hope you will enjoy it more and more.

Have patience dude.
It was a bit odd and somewhat frustrating for me as well at first, but don't feel like you are doing something wrong or being singled out. From what I gather, there is only one person running the show.

I think the goal of most websites is to get you to look at the site often and keep coming back again, so different privileges at different levels of post counts actually seems kind of smart.

It helps control trolls and spammers.
I am a member of another forum that opened in 2005, and really didn't have a lot of protections. Well a member signed up and proceeded to private message all forum members links to porn that contained viruses.
Thankfully, one of the first people to get the message was the forum's tech guy, who shut down the PM system, and we had to post messages to everyone publicly about the message and links, and to just delete without opening.
after that incident, that forum also did post count rules for adding pics and sending messages and such. It protects the existing membership.

I suppose if it keeps spammers and the like away it's a good system. It's just irritating sometimes.
