That's exactly my point.. if I'm gonna go to freaking Spain, I wanna go see Spain. Not just the inside of a beer bottle. I love sight seeing!

In Barcelona, don't waste all your time in the tourist trap that is the "Ramblas". When I was in Barcelona I stayed at the Hotel Omn, right next to the street Av. Diagonal. This is where all THE shops are! The Bvlgari boutique there is a bit of a museum in itself
OH and check out the Gaudi buildings, particular the Sagrada Familia. That's a church thingie. It's STUNNING.

Several larger Spanish cities have museums dedicated to Inquisition torture devices that are fun (LOL)... I got some good ideas from the one in Cordoba.

I don't hate museums, just to be clear Actually I quite like a few. Not an art kind of guy, though. And if I'm going to Spain, I'd be more interested in some of the more adventurous stuff, is all I'm saying.

As for where we're going - looks like it's gonna be one of the places along the coast pretty much built for partying Europeans. They do wanna visit Barcelona too, so that's cool!

I have a friend that went to Spain earlier this year. Actually lived there for a month or so in different parts. She loved it. She took lots of pictures, especially the Gaoudi church, which is just amazing. She also managed to find some flamenco that wasn't a tourist spot but a small cafe of locals. Several interesting 'street theatre' kind of events as well. She is into the arts, however, and spent a lot of time in those types of museums, particularly Miro and Picasso. Anyway, it will be an interesting adventure and you *must* tell us all about it

If you are going Barcelona, take the commuter train (30 minutes?) to the gay beach resort town of Sitges to the West of Barcelona. Probably for just the two of you.

I think it's perfectly okay that you don't want to go...In my opinion, having an open line of communication in your relationship is going to be best in the long run. While he may be a little bit hurt that you don't want to go with him...I think he should try to view it from your POV. It's not fair to you to you if you have to babysit them while they all drink themselves into oblivion. Better to be up front with him rather than be miserable an entire trip...Right?
