My boyfriend, me and a cat.

You don't have to be raised with pets to love animals.

I've seen people who don't have pets, go to a household that has pets. As long as the pets are behaved (no humping of legs, no jumping and climbing on people or things) they still respond positively to pets.

This reminds me of a video I've seen, where large manly men, are given tiny kittens.

At the end of the day..
It will take both members of this household to make this adoption successful.

If only one out of two are interested in this adoption...
It has already failed.
Empathize with the cat for a minute ..
"Daddy wants me... but mommy doesn't "
Rebel..rebel..
Congratulations. .
You just spawned a feline terrorists!

I can update this situation a bit. The cat is here, like my boyfriend said. However it seems to be paying more attention to be than my boyfriend. We think it's strange, because my boyfriend is the one who does all the feeding and petting and everything. I don't have any specific feelings to this animal however it keeps following me around everywhere. Needless to say that my boyfriend is not happy about it.

This is what happens when you're in love with the cat and secretly feeding it treats every chance you get. Puddytat

I don't do that.

The problem could be that you are ignoring the cat, and your boyfriend is showering attention to it.

Cats don't like to be stared at, if you stare at a cat, it will turn away before you do. Your boyfriend is trying to bond with the cat, but because you are not looking at it, it's going directly to you.

Start to give the cat some attention, and tell your boyfriend to pull some of the attention back, and that may help.

Before my advice in this situation was to not allow an animal into your home at this time under your current circumstances. Now things have changed. For whatever reason, this cat is your home and now you have to do everything you can to find some compassion, and I know from your posts here that compassion might be something very difficult for you. In fact, none of know who you are here, but I now think it is a good thing you did this thread anonymously, because this thread does not portray you in a good light. Even if it wasn't by your choice, you must do whatever it takes to make sure this animal is taken care of and happy. You cannot return this creature to a life in sa mall box at a shelter. Do what you have to. A little compassion does not hurt and it might be a good thing for you.

With your continued lack of compassion and stubbornness, I am sensing this is really not about this cat, but is some issues you have with your boyfriend and him not having a job and not contributing to the household. Deal with that real issue, because this cat should not have to suffer because of that issue.

Sorry for the anger in this reply, but your attitude in this is starting to piss me off because there is now a living creature involved and it is not fair to that creature. Like it or not, no matter how this cat came into your household, it is there and so find a little understanding and kindness. Do what it takes to make this right under the circumstances you are now in.

Unfortunately my boyfriend does not listen to me so there's little that I can allow. He won't listen to me. Besides we barely talk each to other now.

The cat is not neglected though, it's receiving the attention and love from the person who wanted it - my boyfriend. He's feeding it and taking care about it, so the cat shouldn't be unhappy.

I'm sorry that I'm angering you all, but that's how I am. The cat is here so I will have to tolerate it, that much I understand.

I don't know. I was just trying to give insight from where animal lovers usually come from. I cannot give insight from the other perspective.

I threw out my experiences to hopefully give the OP some idea of where his BF sits and how animals affect how a person views the big picture.

I'm hoping what will happen here is that OP will play with the cat, pet the cat and be brought under the Cats Power by a cat full of cuteness and become one with the the animal love....
