News on Virge
#21
I was at the hospital over 2 hours with him earlier then ate with his mom. He seems pretty ok and mostly in a funny mood now but not like he normally is. Hes already fed up with being in the hospital and arguing about that. Now they say he must have had maybe one or a few TIAs (microstrokes) from energy drinks but no brain damage they can find. Once that happened it threw off his entire routine. He lost track of eating and might have not eaten from Saturday to Monday afternoon. He probably didnt sleep much. He is borderline hypoglycemic too. He's walking fine and all that. But his short range memory is still messed up and he had trouble with remembering things I asked him about that he should remember that they doctors would know to ask.

He might get out Thursday if everything goes ok. Jay couldnt sit still so hes on his way to be here Thursday morning. I work a full shift tomorrow then pick Jay up at the airport. We all hate that he felt he had to take off and fly here but Im relieved. Ha! Someone is going to have to stay with Virge for awhile after he gets out. I dont mind but he will argue and fight with me or his mom about everything he can. Jay dont put up with him trying to argue.

Im going to see him in the morning before I go to work so Ill tell him I let you guys know. It slipped my mind today to tell him.

TIA? Hmm that is serious. A decent chunk of people who have TIA's end up having a full blown stroke.

If it is these energy drinks he will need to completely cut those out of his life, and from now on refrain from high levels of sugar and caffeine.

You need to inform the floor nurse that his short term memory is not all there and ask for a repeat of the information and write it all down. Most hospitals will send the patient home with information packets, but those often do not cover everything. Doctors often give special individual 'advice' more tailored for the patient which just isn't covered in those printouts.

Sad So sorry to hear that, I hope he gets better. I hate hearing about young people having health problems like this, hopefully it's an easy fix.

Oh no! Hope he gets better soon!
So lost in your addiction
The solemn comfort of your grave
If you close your eyes the light can't take it away

Reach back behind your pride
And pull the thorn from the burning pain in your side

Thank you for the update! Please let him know that he is in our hearts and thoughts! Don't let him give you any shit! Tell him he has to keep his ass in that bed until the doctors say otherwise! No BS!

Aww sorry that Virge is going through all this. Hope he fully recovers quickly! He probably should not be doing any long road trips for a while after this. (Good luck on that.)
