So hard to meet gay men over 50

I was fortunate enough to see this site. I was hoping the someone here might be able to give me advice on where to meet older gays, over 50. I am 51 and new to doing men. I have gone to a few gay bars but no lick. I am not a church goer. Its hard for me because when you start out late in life you really dent know how to go about it, Any help??

You could use a dating site or an apps. Don't know about where you are from, but where I am from Manhunt and gay411 are really popular for gays for all ages.
You are from chigago, it's a big city, I am sure you can find some!

There are probably bars that cater to that age group....

I remember when I was younger...the piano type bars and the leather types bars had alot of older guys...even some of the smaller neighborhood bars. I am not sure how it is now...could have changed over the years...but if they have those kinds of bars in Chicago maybe check them out.

Drag bars, hip hop bars, twink bars, leather bars, "Fern" bars...

There's usually one for everyone, if you're in a larger city. You just haven't found the right one yet.

pardon the stereotype but in palm springs:

you're either gray or gay or both!

also, outside of the annual white party, there is a preponderance of silver foxy gay men in palm springs! and there's perfectly nothing wrong with that because listening to them talk story is quite often hilarious! and it's a jolly good time!

Don't pooh pooh the under 50's either....there are a lot of guys who like a more mature man.

We used to have one bar in Toronto that we called the open grave because that is where all the over 40's hung out in the neighbourhood.....but depending on your 'type' there are certainly bars catering to every demo in Chicago.

OP, what do you like to do? If you have a hobby or interest there may be a group that gets together over it. Book club, model trains, cooking, old cars, wood carving, photography, whatever...? Another possibility is volunteering. That could be at a hospital, food bank, habitat for humanity, Red Cross, or anything else. I have met a couple of folks over the years who are real Chicago history buffs. It is a fascinating town. Maybe there is a history group.
