LOOKING on HBO

I really want to like Kevin but I know he will break Paddy's heart. I don't want them to end, and with how well this episode went I know something is coming. Anyone else think there might be a role reversal and have Paddy cheat on Kevin with Richie?

I agree with you East, Patrick didn't win the boyfriend lottery with Kevin (even though they DO make a cute couple), wonder how long it's going to last. It was funny though how Patrick "did" have "double standards" as to letting others know (especially with Richie in the last episode).

I also believe the way Patrick and Kevin "handled" letting people know they were an item at work was very poor (it was a "are you kidding me..." moment for me). Odd and uncalled for, and in a staff meeting???

Richie is still in love, and having major regrets. However, what did he expect, he's the one who was pushing Patrick away... until the "want what you can't have" syndrome kicked in.

Augustin is struggling with the possibility of catching HIV, and I can understand that, it would be a constant worry no matter how careful you are. Glad the show producers are tackling some of those tough issues.

The "I love you" at the end, yep... that is an amazing feeling, but in this situation, how long before things start to unravel....?

As much as I didn't want to like him...Kevin is growing on me...

...and Dom who was my favorite has moved down to last place. What an ass...I have known so many people like that who lash out at the absolute last person they should lash out at. Sometimes...there are consequences. He can't take back what he said...his character is a tad depressing for me now...

Augustin was interesting this week...sorta...he was honest and he was also transparent with his ex...nice move....

The whole episode was wasted on me with Patrick because of his mom. I watched Newhart every week it was on...I never missed an episode...and it gets in the way because I associate her with her old character (Stephanie)...I keep trying to make the transition...

Instead of Patrick's mom now...I see Stephanie has grown up and is living in SF LOL....

I think Patrick is kinda boring too now.....

Where is Ritchie?

I'm not trying to give him a pass card, but I'm thinking that what he probably meant was that he was lucky not to turn out as the totally effeminate type of gay in the social context in which he lived. Being effeminate in his social surroundings might have put him at much more considerable risk of being gay-bashed, or bullied by his rough-er mates (in a rough-er) social context. I suspect that is what he meant, maybe not that he dislikes effeminate gays, or gays who show those traits. It's a defense mechanism, but that's how he was brought up. I think you'll understand that he's been more sensitive than you'd admit to the hypothetical fact that had he been more effeminate, (and this might have happened, he says, had he been more molly-coddled) life would have been much harder for him. I don't think it's fair to call him homophobic because he's stated that not being overly effeminate has kept him safe. I don't think he's condoning rough treatment for those who are effeminate. I think he's looking at this as something that kept ostracism away for him. So has he been faking it all these years? This is where nurture takes over from nature.
If I'm wrong, then feel free to dislike him.

Okay I read it differently. What I saw was "I wanted to go to a school where I would be able to be my naturally-fem self, but my dad instead sent me to a school where I had to learn now to put on an artificial facade or get the snot beat out of me... wasn't that great of him? Cause now I'm totes masc and that makes me a special snowflake!"

I'm not crazy, I've just been a very bad mood for the last 45 years!

Ritchie came late to the banquet table, he didn't make it in the short 22 minute format, lol.... No, you know what I mean. So the latest episode was all about padding out Patrick and his character to explain why he is such a dork. He's just so middle America... at least, that's what I think. Very naive, very scared, very unwise, but needing (at 30!!!) to sow his wild oats, and yet craving a real relationship.
Does anyone believe in Patrick's silly sister's character? She's just so smooth, no asperities, except that she won't budge from her 'morality'.... unmodern? Mum, on the other hand seems to have landed a hot potato in their plate, ha.
Liked the way Agustín (didn't) handle-d the meeting with the ex (slimey?). Wonder if Home In Virginia is not too good for him (what's the character's name again?)
Dom IS a jerk. I don't get him, sometimes. I can understand that he'd be upset by the money situation, but there was NO reason for him to treat his best best friend that way. Unpractical and just stupid. Why did he refuse Lynn's well-meaning help?

He's a jerk because some guys just are...even when they're really not. But he is pretty egocentric.

We're just sad that it is all coming to an end with no season 3.

Hehe I know... I just couldn't resist the metaphor in light of my previous comment Frog He's a decent-looking guy, certainly out of my league aesthetically, but I didn't like what he put out there in that interview.
