I actually fell out of my chair laughing at some of the responses.
The house analogy was ridiculous I must say. First off, the house is inanimate with no capacity to think or act on its own, unlike a living organism. We give the house a purpose. However, humans create things for themselves. They create their own happiness, sadness, success and decline. So how come we cannot give ourselves purpose? It doesn't make any sense. Lastly, if there is a higher power, and only he gives us purpose, then it almost seems like our lives are empty in that we have no choice or individuality to live our lives in the way we desire. Thus, I wish to have the ability to choose my purpose, then be the puppet fulfilling the purpose already chosen for me.
