I still don't know what this has to do with The Meaning of Life??
•
Hunni with all due respect and not wanting to sound like a total bitch, starting a thread about the meaning of life and expecting it not to turn to religion is a bit like giving a 15 year old porn and expecring them not to masturbate over it.
Religion explains the meaning of life for those who follow it. It gives guidance in times of difficulty and explains our lives really do have a purpose, even if we can't always see what that is...

I never said that I wasn't a Christian my self though.
What I believe is all religions are the same..

I don't agree at all Sweetlad. All religions are not the same, however, they are competing for exclusivity.
Granted, they are essentially all "God" centred belief systems and united in that sense. It is from here they divert from one another.
Even a very basic examination of comparative belief systems reveal that different religions make very different truth claims on a number of issues. And they do so in a definitive manner.
Each religion is clearly different in very fundamental ways, and as elementary as whether Is it Monotheistic or Monistic? (personal or Impersonal relationship with God).
If religions were all the same, I wonder why so many conflicts throughout the history of the world can be attributed to them. Surely, this would put an end to most disagreements. If you're correct I feel the Israelis and Palestinians should be informed immediately.

That's a pretty modernistic - and I must say simplistic - interpretation of the Israel conflict Sweetlad - it's origins are far more intricate than the events of 1947.
Living on the Israeli border and working alongside both Israelis and Palestinians (many of whom i call close friends) I would find it impossible to come to a conclusion like yours so easily. I guess it's somewhat different when it's occuring in your daily life as opposed to on the television.
I do agree with you to a certain extent regarding wars being about wealth and not religion - but I must point out that this is surely on a political level. The average person doesn't go to war imagining how it will profit them. They go - whether manipulated by government or not - to secure their freedom and way of life, which includes religion.
Great subject matter to discuss though!!!

mmmm I like the sound of modernistic lol!
I agree Marlborolad it is a great subject matter to discuss.
Well the modern part of the Israel conflict comes from the WW1 when the Allis caved the Middle East up for them selfs.
Palestine was promise to the Muslims as well as the Jews but as we all the Allis never carried out their word.
I really want to visit Palestine in the future, I love Middle Eastern culture and people.
