If you love, you'll forgive anything?

^ Right now these are the most honest words I've heard about it. I'm still hoping they are wrong but I'm not going to be stupid and try to fool myself about it.

Forgiveness = giving a murderer permission to stab you after his knife is already in your heart.

Awww, Virge! What's wrong?!

No, forgiveness is another story.

I had a friend who I believed was my sister and I trusted her with everything... Out of the blue, she just stopped speaking to me for absolutely no reason. It hurt so much that if she actually came back and apologized... I won't forgive her for all the pain she's caused me.

It doesn't only have to do with love, there's more to it... There is mutual trust, respect and it depends on the amount of pain involved... No matter how much you love the person, U will end up hating them for hurting u so bad.
And if they also love you, would they actually hurt u so much to the point ur screwed over??

"Abuse cuts the veins of love." Period

i noticed the change, and assuming it means what I think ot means, I'm sorry to hear.

You can forgive the man who stabbed you...without giving the knife back.

Some people assume "forgive" means "act like it never happened", or "make things the way they were". That's more "forgive and forget". "Forgive" simply means not carrying around the hatred or the grudge anymore. And it can take time and effort to get to that point. But it's well-worth it.

Sorry, no.

There are certain things that I will not forgive someone for, and I would end a relationship for..

Forgiveness is about you, not the other person. It means you have gotten to a point where the hurt and animosity for the person is behind you and no longer has that much impact on you. .

I don't think I could forgive everything that ever happens, but I could move on from it. Or maybe I have it backwards. I'll forgive, but I won't forget. Hmmmm I guess I'll need to get in that kinda situation.

It's great that so many agree here. Just another perspective on forgiveness:

Forgiveness doesn't let the other guy off the hook, but let's you move on.

I was going to say a resounding "hell no", but...

Under this definition of forgiveness, yes. I could.

I have a habit of slicing people out of my life that hurt me badly enough that I feel amputation is necessary. So, there -are- things that the ones I love might do that would result in that action.

Over time, maybe a LOT of time, I may find forgiveness in myself for them. Doesn't mean I'd want them as a part of my life anymore, tho.

For me? Honesty. Hands down. They are both important, but if I can't love without reservation, then there's no damned point. If there's no honesty? There will be loads of reservation.
