Last night, after soaking my chick peas for the best part of the day, I decided to put them in the pressure cooker for a quick 20-minute cook. Then I came out to the computer to get on with stuff, and took the timer with me... It was clicking merrily along and time went by, when all of a sudden, I realised the times was no longer ticking and the chick peas were sending a suspicious smell of burning down this way. Ah, I ran to the kitchen and rescued my poor chick peas from oblivion in the nick of time. Actually, the bottom of the pan was burnt but not too badly and the chick peas, once rescued and rinsed under cold water were perfectly edible albeit with a slight taste of being smoked... Hahaha. Don't leave things to cook in the kitchen without taking a timer that works with you down the hall.... otherwise, it's asking for trouble. Wink

I can attest to that, I've burned many things by being distracted on the computer.

Believe it or not the French Army actually has decent field rations. We had a French Squad staying with us at our Platoon Firebase in Afghanistan and their rations have actual food in them they are pretty damn good.

Plus the French soldiers have beer and wine. Xyxthumbs

Yeh i read Combat and survival and they said dutch army was good, cant be sure till you try them tho. British individual ORP 24hr ones are ok, spec the new ones. i really enjoy them, its the big 10 man that the cook uses thats very bad. I love your US MRE tho, its cool to try summit diff, and the pound cake and milkshakes are awsome. Dint like the wild rice and stoaganough tho, tatsed like the cook had tipped a whole bottle of cloves or summit in the rice.
