This post is a bit ranty but there's a question at the end. If you want just skip down there.
So I went out tonight with an old friend from my apprenticeship and couple of guys I didn't know. One of whom happened to be gay, let's call him John.
We did the whole "so what have you been up to" discussion. I mentioned my boyfriend.
We were getting along well, two happy history nerds arguing with each other. Connor interrupted us by asking me whether a girl from the apprenticeship course was still "as fit as fuck". I said yes, John laughed and joked "how would you know" I just casually told him that I was bisexual.
The cavalry argument we were having became one-sided and just petered out. Then after that he basically shut down and ignored me for the entire night. He wasn't even subtle about it, it was really awkward.
I've been raking over the night in my mind and I just can't think of any reason for the cold shoulder. As pathetic as it sounds I thought I'd made a friend tonight, not just a friend but a gay, history nerd friend. Instead I got a whole heaping load of disrespect out of nowhere.
Is there any stigma against bisexuals in the gay community. If so do you think this is likely to happen again?
If not does anyone have any guesses as to what his problem is, it's really bugging me.
