Lose Weight/Excercise
Camfer Wrote:Awesome! Your swim time on the 600 means you will surely complete all three events. Glad you registered!

I think the transition from swim to bike won't be all too bad but the bike to running is going to suck. I actually feel that the 5k run is going to be the most difficult for me, especially after the 18 miles of riding...

Use a brand new good blade. If you shave for the first time the day before the race, you'll look like that guy who shaved for the first time the day before the race. Better to get in the habit now.

Get yourself to 600 yards in the pool with no rest at all. That should be your goal. To start, any pace is fine as long as you don't stop.

Well I went ahead and shaved my legs...after reading that doing so for swimming does make a measurable difference...

and...

Pacing seems to be key. Would you know I got a new bike but I have to have it tuned and not used to it. It is an older Quintana Roo Te Quilo... I took it for a short ride and it really night and day and while it would probably shave off 15-20 minutes off my bike time, probably would be unsafe and unwise to use it until I get used to how it handles.

Hope it all goes well, I'll post my results once I get back. Fixing to get ready and load everything up in the car.

Well I did finish the race lol

I didn't win any awards or place in my age group or anything spectacular. I finished the race in 2:10:40. Swimming was probably the hardest to get through, did pretty good on the bike, especially for the bike I was on. The new bike, the Quintana Roo Te Quilo would have shaved a good 20 minutes off the bike and I might have actually placed if that were the case. The bike to run transition was the hardest transition and probably should have ate something as well. I felt like I had two wooden pegs starting into the run...

Anyway, I did get a 2 minute penalty which I didn't include. I don't know what the penalty was for and I didn't check because I don't feel like I had drafted. There were several people on bikes who passed me and cut in too close. Either way I don't care for USAT sanctioned races, I mean unless someone is really being a big bonehead it serves no purpose unless you're doing something really big and are going to place among very competitive athletes...sorry that's not the case when you're finishing in 2 hours lol

Yay! Great job! It's been a lot of work to be able accomplish this. Now you have a time to beat next year! Thanks for letting us know.

Congrads Axle, I hope you feel really good about yourself, because that was quite an accomplishment!

It was definitely getting hard at the end, I really should have ate something half way through the bike. But thanks, it was something I did focus on a lot and whined about off and on..swimming in particular.

Im just glad you did it Tongue, you were talking about possibly backing out. That took a tonne of everything to accomplish, from courage to willpower and endurance! I don't think I could have did the swimming at all :S, I still have this phobia like something will eat me... Especially when the water temperature changes from cold to warm (and no its not me! Tongue) or when bubbles come up... At that moment I want nothing more than to leave the water!

*Im completely aware the odds of a freshwater fish swallowing a fully grown male human are basically null, hence the irrational fear*

just imageing tentacles comeing up and around you, about to drag you down into the darkness O_O ... yes yes fresh water I know XD.

Anyways good job man!
