Are Sexual Rolls important when you get older?

With age thing just my personal opinion. I mean I feel I've matured enough to realise the hole top bottom, dom, sub thing doesn't really matter. I just wanted to see if others thought the same. ie; when you get older you don't care.

Not 100% sure but I think I'm going that way. Seems it depends on the guy I'm with. I had the interest in topping this younger guy I was chatting to a few weeks back. But that was the first time I've ever fancied trying it.

No more important than when you were younger, the only difference is you know what you want when you are older.

If anything, I'd think it's the opposite. Lots of younger people start out trying to live as they think they should (even in rebellion they typically follow a script of some kind), and that's especially true of sexual roles. But as they get older, they start to see the flaws in what's "supposed to be" and can become bored by them as well as just not caring as when they sought the approval of their peers so much. Ironically, they can even be haunted less by body image issues despite that they're less fit than when they were obsessing over every single (perceived) flaw while younger.

And I know movies portray older people (especially the elderly) as prudish, but I think they're the least likely to be prudes as they've had the most time to move beyond their inhibitions and truly evaluate all that they had once accepted without thinking but have finally thought about as they got older. I'm not saying people become depraved, they're actually more likely to be ethical and think ahead (not that all do), but they're less constrained by what's considered acceptable.

I think other posters have pretty much nailed it with the fact that people are too eager to define themselves to the world when they are younger where as they feel no need to do this as they get older. Keep it in mind that there will be people who continue to feel that they still need to define themselves or their position sexually as they get old.

Isn't it more a question of finally being more comfortable with who you are and what you like to do in bed? And with whom?
Sexual roles can change with time, I suppose, as you learn to explore. But sometimes we go back to the very basics, the roles that we know will give us a good time. No sweat.
