Homosexuality: It's about survival - not sex

They do indeed. Although it serves to remember that Vikings were a hardy warrior people from Northern Europe, which at the time was an extremely harsh place to live. Their culture therefore revolves around being aggressive and dominant (it was essential to their survival), so it's not surprising that the act of submission was something they did not comprehend very well (at least when it came to themselves).

I wonder if the Viking or other Northern and Western European warrior mindsets carry over into the modern military, given the general attitudes on homosexuality?

Modern military?

Try modern everything.

To stop, to cease, to cower, to wait or to hide are often not acceptable regardless of gender or sex, really.

And regardless of whether it is aggression we're speaking about, there is still a desire for people to agree or conform. Do it my way kind of mentality. This probably comes from the mystery of what other people are thinking and feeling. You cannot really know what someone else is doing, where they have been or where they are going, and you make false assumptions about what is right or wrong for them, based on your own experience and judgement of their situation. We view people as somewhat less powerful than they really are. You cannot understand the context of someone's life experience without having lived it as them.

QFT

My belief is that we (all living things) are fundamentally one thing living uniquely subjective and individual life experiences. We can only "know" another to the extent that we can transcend our own subjectivity... which is damn near impossible while still identifying as a "me" or "I".

Yeah, but that wasn't -- and isn't -- limited to Vikings.

The phallus may very well be the original weapon or, at the very least, its underlying archetype.

MikeW Im all for looting, pillaging, burning, salting the earth, and putting the population of a city, village, or town to the sword but I draw the line at rape. I think it's the most despicable act imaginable.

So you say. And no doubt so you believe.

But let me ask you this question since you profess a belief in Christ Jesus: If you will allow that he was born into a world that was every bit as sinful and corrupt as the one we occupy today, whom did he advocate putting to the sword in his or his Father's name?

I never met a single person that believes all of the church's teaching we can only try to be Christ like in our actions we will always fail at that. God put two cities to the "sword" so to speak, we fear the wrath of God for a reason.
