British petition

I don't consider this 'Chit Chat.' Seems the nature of it is clearly political.

That's just me.

You are probably right, @Native Son, though I have yet to see that these various classifications of this board apply very strictly.
I bid NO Trump!

I didn't get the impression that the fake news was something trump was worried about. I mean it's coming from him that he had a huge inauguration turn out, that unemployment is at 42%, that millions committed voter fraud and that Obama was born in Kenya.... alternative facts and all. Not to mention pizzagate... it seems to be more of a conservative issue. Didn't the study on that stuff show overwhelmingly that fake news favored Trump and conservatives? Or was that fake too?

I get that there is a liberal slant to a lot of news sources, and it's important to be aware of that, but just because he doesn't like what's said, doesn't mean it's fake. I'm sure if there was some scandalous unconfirmed report that Clinton likes golden showers, it would have been all over the conservative news for years.

Maybe it's because I'm not a social media person, but Facebook doesn't seem like a trustworthy news source.

Well, take the lead, honey.

(I think I'm actually being very selfish here as I don't want to see Kindy's biased threads dominate the very apropos political sub-forum.)

Facebook is what you make it. Without limitations clickbait bullshit articles are everywhere, but if you block those pages you're good to go. My problem is that the only way to get block out Trump's BS is to cut myself off completely... and I do need some news..

Is Facebook the primary place you get your news?

Honestly? Yes.
I don't pursue news, they just get dropped on me. Mostly from facebook and here.
I really should make it a habit to spend 20 mins a day watching the news on TV...

I'm an incomplete person, still under construction. Don't judge me. And yes, critical attention to sources and agendas is part of the curriculum in high school. I know the truthfulness and validity of the majority of the "news" on facebook is nowhere to be seen, but with some filtering it's mostly narrowed down to reasonably credible sources.

I'm not judging, just asking. It's been a while since I had Facebook but the only news I was seeing on it then was pretty much just what friends I haven't spoken to in years were eating for lunch or planning for vacation. I guess it's changed since then.

Cuddly, do you ever visit Google News? No such compendium is perfect, but it seems to give me a way of glancing around with at least some efficiency.

News agencies have facebook sites and following them (or friends commenting, liking or sharing) puts it in your feed. Right after their lunch...
