Do your gaydars work properly?

No. I call you a child because you are one.

"And don't go speaking for what others like or dislike"
See? That's why I didn't bother answering to everything you said. There's nothing childish about looking down on people who contradict themselves so blatantly.

You were the one that claimed nobody liked this (how do you know? Anybody told you that? Stop speaking for other people), and you were the one telling people shouldn't discuss the subject anymore because you have a problem with people disagreeing with you. You're the one who dragged this topic out to what it is right now. All for what exactly? People were giving their points of view in a decent manner, whether it was directly addressed with your comment in mind or in a larger perspective, but you're the one who had to find something wrong with that, when there wasn't anything. You're the one misreading other people, and then accusing them doing that.

Nobody fucking took your first post literally. Get over yourself.

Alright, call me a child if that makes you feel any better.
I brought the topic here? Let's see...I just used a little digression to make my comment a bit longer. All I meant is basically what himself said. There is no generalisation whatsoever in that comment, yet people misunderstood, made a big deal out of a few words and said I was doing a "bad generalisation". It wasn't true, so I tried to explain myself better. I'm not sure if it worked with the others, but in the end it looked like everyone decided to laugh it off and go back to the original topic (hence why I "claimed" nobody likes this). Everyone but you. You're the one who desperately kept trying to prove me wrong, and I think I know why.
My first reply to you started with "was it really necessary?". It doesn't sound polite and only now I noticed it...I understand that you got mad at me, but believe me, I didn't mean to be rude. Sorry about that. I'm still working on my english and sometimes I use the wrong words (the wrong sentence, in this case).

I'm not trying to prove you anything.

Your first post was interpretable as a generalization. Then you clarified yourself, and called it an argument. When you were told it wasn't an argument, you still kept insisting it was an argument. It's pointless to argue with someone who keeps twisting others' words and insisting they are the only one who's right like that.

You've made this whole thread about what you said and how others have misunderstood you. Tiny little details that don't have any meaning. Yes, you are the one dragging this out.

If you've clarified yourself, then why are you still arguing?

I didn't call my first post an argument and I didn't twist anyone's words, that much should be clear to anyone who can read. God, I feel stupid for apologising to such a bloke. Whatever you say, mister.

Go back and re-read your own posts. You insisted it was an argument when you were told it was not (and I was not saying that particular thing happened in your first post, either. See how you twist it?), and that people were just discussing in a good productive way (which it isn't anymore).

Just give it up.

You seem to have something specific in mind: why don't you post it. Show me where I twisted someone's words, where I called my comment an argument. Show me where I was told my comment was not an argument.

Quote:You were all acting like I said every gay man loves madonna, and everyone who loves madonna is gay /.../

Nobody ever hinted that you were being like that. You invented those absolutes all on your own out of nothingness.

What I saw was guys discussing/elaborating their experience on musical taste and homosexuality, which happened to strongly disagree with your quoted example of Madonna. If you were thought to generalize then you weren't being specific/clear enough and your posts left the matter open to interpretation. Given that such a generalization is held true by quite a lot of people -- gay and straight -- it's not hard to understand why you were read like that.

Quote:You also tried to disprove that by saying stuff like "not true lmao i listen to heavy metal",

Also a misrepresentation on your part. Nobody laughed at you at any point along the way. You injected that in there out of nowhere. You're summing up others' reaction in a way that does not reflect reality. Reading stuff into it that was never there.

If you want specifics, you first quoted Madonna. I quoted Kid Rock, Marilyn Manson, etc. I was just giving you an example to the contrary. I was not laughing at you or trying to prove anything, other than illustrating my own musical tastes.

And it is, in fact true, that a lot of gay men don't adhere to the taste of pop music that a stereotypical vision of them would expect. How is proving that to you so wrong? It makes sense that gay men would want to overthrow a characteristic that is thought to pertain to them, if that characteristic is not true on average.

a) "You were all acting like I said every gay man loves madonna, and everyone who loves madonna is gay"
b) "not true lmao i listen to heavy metal"
I slightly exaggerated the phrases to make them more brief and colorful, not to mention I didn't take the time to manually copy-paste or quote because autodraft makes it a chore. Does that equal twisting others' words? "Lmao" doesn't add anything meaningful, you're really desperate if you brought that up. And come on, the meaning of the a) comment doesn't change either: people said I was generalising, they thought I was saying gay guys generally match the description in my very first comment, but that wasn't what I meant. "Madonna" was nothing but a quick way to avoid typing that description all over again. The word "all" is also just there to avoid saying "some of you". Don't you ever use a metaphor, similitude, exaggeration...? Not everyone must have a boring writing style. Stop clinging to useless details.

"What I saw was guys discussing/elaborating their experience on musical taste and homosexuality"
What I saw, among other things, was "It is a pretty bad generalisation" (#25), "Yeah mate, think that you cant generalise" (#27). They were also discussing about music taste, but they still thought I was generalising. I didn't even have a problem with that, I just peacefully replied "I know masculine gays too, and now that you mention it I did meet a straight guy who is pretty close to what I described. Still, if I meet a feminine guy surrounded by girls who is also a huge *insertfemalepopstarhere* fanboy I can't help but think they're probably gay. I don't think we should discuss this any further though...unless we find certain statistic data to back up our claims, we can only use personal experience and opinions as arguments." Is this where I called my first comment an argument? Cause I didn't quite call my first comment an argument...

And by the way, you kinda did the same:
"You did claim that if a guy listens to Madonna and has female friends, then he is 100% gay"
Which I never did, as I explained by the end of comment #37
"Did I? I hate repeating myself, but I said "rainbow bracelet, madonna/gaga fanboy, overly feminine, all their friends are girls". You (conveniently?) forgot them being overly feminine and all their friends being girls. The rainbow bracelet was a metaphor for gay themed accessories. Also, when I said "they're pretty much 100% gay" it was a manner of speaking, to say that it's highly likely."
You didn't say you were exaggerating though, and apparently you didn't misread, as you replied "I perfectly well understood from the start you didn't mean that". Could it be that you didn't actually understand? Perhaps you "twisted" my words on purpose? Or just why the heck did you change my words?

Ah, seems you forgot about showing me where I called my first comment an argument, and where someone allegedly told me it wasn't.

Actually, I changed my mind: don't show me anything. This isn't going anywhere, I'll just be a man and leave the last word to you. Enjoy it. I explained myself more than once, I apologised to you for being rude even though it wasn't my intention, there's nothing more I need to tell you.
Sorry RomanticMan for keeping this up for so long.
