What do you believe, and why?

I don't know how to detect it, and to be honest, I've never put much thought into it.

It could, but I think the two situations are different.
A cheating partner would be harming me emotionally, mentally, and possibly physically. That should be investigated and the truth known, so I can save myself from harm. Whether or not a higher power exists doesn't harm me in any way that I can see. If I believe in one, and it's there, fine. If it's not there, my believing in it hasn't harmed me in any way.

Beliefs are inter-related with values. The two fuel perception which fuels self-talk which fuels feelings with fuel reactions (survival) versus response abilities. So using this "choice of understanding" can thwart or facilitate growth, especially in terms of behavioral change and recovery-based processes.
Life's too short to miss an opportunity to show your love and affection!

Well, it's not an all-encompassing thing. When I'm feeling thankful about something major in my life, I offer a prayer of thanks. I don't live my life around a belief in a higher power. I live by "treat others as you want to be treated", I don't think like "Oh, I can't do that because it would make God angry."

I believe for every drop of rain that falls,
A flower grows.

Why do you believe this? (Bare in mind this was posted in the Religion section, so I was actually enquiring about religious beliefs). |
