Probably not the smartest choice, but then again I don't think I have ever heard of someone getting AIDS from oral sex either.

I know one guy who did. He used to take part in a usenet forum I belong to. He only ever did oral, and that's how he got it.

Given that most people lie when questioned about sex (and everything else - but even more about sex), how can “the experts” know how HIV is contracted in any particular case?

A good point. Obviously, the can't ever know for definite. However some people are more reliable than others. Also genetic analysis, of the HIV virus, can help show which of a number of suspect individuals was responsible for infecting a given man, if the two then independently give the same account of what they did and didn't do....
