HOMAGE TO..... Part 1 'Chris Colfer'
#1
Homage to…………..

Having decided I was bored, I decided to write up a ‘Homage to….’ Thread. When I can be bothered I will write up another one.

This first one is an openly gay star who has just made it big in a new Series that is storming the US and now the UK.

Chris Colfer

Chris started of staring in a short film called ‘Russell Fish,: The Sausage and Eggs Incident’ in which he plays a kid who has to pass the presidential fitness exam to pass Gym class or he cannot get into Harvard. The film won Best Comedic Short at the 2009 AOF International Film Festival.

Chris then auditioned for the part of Artie in the new FOX series GLEE, but was (luckily) unsuccessful. However the casting directors were so impressed by Chris they wrote in a new character just for Chris, called Kurt Hummel. Thankfully he was awarded this amazing new part of Kurt who is also Gay, but is in denial and is to scared to say anything at first. He eventually plucks the courage to tell his dad in the show which after wards brought in a ratings boost of about 2 million viewers until the end of the first series. Glee has won a Golden Globe for Best Television Series.

Chris has openly admitted on an interview on Access Hollywood that his parents were accepting of him although he was bullied through school. Christopher Paul Colfer Was born on the 27th of May 1990 in Clovis California USA. During high school, he was involved with speech & debate, drama, the F.F.A., was president of the writers' club, editor of the school literary magazine, captain of Destination Imagination and he wrote and directed a play in his senior year at high school called Shirley Todd, a musical spoof of Sweeney Todd. When he was 14 he Assistant directed a theatrical benefit for Valley Children's Hospital. ore becoming an actor, he worked a morning shift before school in the cafeteria as a cookie scooper and during the summer he worked as a clerk at a dry cleaner.

It is obvious we will be seeing a lot of Chris in the future, of course on Glee, but by going on his past accomplishments I think I can safely say Chris will be a face we will be seeing on the big screen in the future. I wish him all the best and I cant wait to see him again on Season 2 of Glee.

Quotes:

“I thought The Hurt Locker was a documentary about my high school PE experiences.” (Twitter Feb 8th 2010)
I keep hearing about all these "Chris Colfer" sightings at different places. If I ever run into me I'm going to have a few words for myself. (Chris-colfer.com Jan 2010)

Awards and Nominations:

2009 Satellite Awards, Nominee: Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (In the Part of Kurt Hummel on Glee)
2010 Golden Globes, Winner: Best Television Series- Comedy or Musical (In the Part of Kurt Hummel on Glee)

I had heard that Glee is now a hit in the UK. It's on hiatus in the states right now until April. I don't know how long it will take for the new season to air in the UK, but it is an amazing show and one of my all time favorites. It is total Glee mania here in the states right now with all the Glee music and such and apparently there is going to be a Glee concert tour as well. So glad the Glee is no in the UK, no one should miss out on this great show.
