I've been receiving anally for years, never douched, and really have never had a problem. My partner and I just put a towel down on the bed to keep things clean, but otherwise nothing really disgusting has happened. I realized that anal sex with a partner is different than being perfect for a hookup, but I somewhat question the douching everyone's doing.

Before I received for the first time I was told that as long as you

1. Don't have to shit.
2. Have somewhat good hygiene.
3. Have not just eaten.

Yes he was talking about his derrière (by the way, that's the French word for "behind", just thought you'd like to know, Lewis). Well, as you can imagine, if someone is poking up (and down) your hole, and if your digestive tract is ready to be emptied, it can cause a sensation of fullness and need to go to the bathroom. Faeces come in various guises, as you know, so sometimes it will be messier than other times. If you realise something like that is going to happen, you just excuse yourself and get rid of it, wash up and get back to it. It's best to be realistic about these things. It would be like cutting a vein and expecting it not to bleed otherwise. Not going to happen. So douching may be a way of getting rid of the excess matter, which is what they do in the porn industry. But too much douching is not supposed to be so good for you. You need to find a balance.

My advice is to purchase a "Shower Shot." You can find them in almost any gay/adult bookstore and you can also google "shower shot" and get a bunch of sites where you can buy one.

In a nutshell, the shower shot is a hose that connect to your shower where you and divert the water from the shower to a hose with a nozzle on the end which you insert in your anus and the water shoots up into your bowel and then you expel the water. If you do this 3 or 4 times you'll have a deep cleaning. Note, be sure to expel the water (just relax don't try to force the little bit of water left up there, it will come out if you relax).

Now, the shower shot is ideal if you know you and your partner are going to have sex in the next hour or so. Since the bowel is part of the digestive tract, you can't expect to be squeeky clean at 2am if you cleaned out at 6pm and also had drinks and dinner.

As we say, "Shit happens" so dont' get freaked out if you're not squeeky clean every time. There's something to be said about spontaneous sex and of course, if he's wearing a condom he won't be "dirty."
