With respect, these last few comments do not appear to take fully into account the nature of indoctrination by a cult, which the LDS Church most certainly is (despite its regular rejection of this position).

I think Story's concerns are absolutely valid. It is sickening to hear about the number of homeless youth in Utah who are only homeless because they have been rejected by their families after coming out as gay. The number of homeless young people identifying as g, l, b or t is significantly higher in Utah than is the national average for the USA.

As to "no one is forcing you to go to Church", the writer of that statement has clearly never experienced Sunday mornings in the average Mormon household :frown: To "study religion" means something very specific to Mormons.

If the "religion" is more important than it's people then it is a cult.

Wouldn't that include all mainstream Christians, Jews and Muslims? They all believe that the Almighty is more important than people.

Im sorry you have had such a terrible experience. I did some stupid things but was lucky to not catch anything. Im sure you have realized you have plenty of friends here to help you though. I know I have a difficult time making any friends much less gay friends, the key is to keep on trying.

On a side note, if someone lies and infects another person, its considered manslaughter. Nobody can force you to come forward, but I would suggest it if you havent already. If not for yourself, then for whoever he might lie to next.
