A new dream thread.
LateBloomer Wrote:Ok, first of all, it doesn't matter if you'd never wear a white tux in real life. This is NOT real life. This is your subconscious.

So maybe we can work with the idea that the older guy is another older version of you, carting you and this guy around after passing through various seasons, and an attempt to kill him off.

Yeah...

Even though this guy should have been "knocked off" (killed) you saved him, and now you're older but still carrying him around in the back.

I like that interpretation so far. What do you think?

Sounds like you could be on to something. Could be my subconscious telling me that there's no real way to just let him go entirely. I could end up carrying the thought of him around forever. But I can keep him in the back and focus on what's infront of me. The game is over so to speak, and he's behind me now but always with me.

That actually does have some sense to it for me. I guess I'll just have to live with him in my subconscious for a while. At least until my point of view changes.

Well, I'm not so sure your subconscious mind is saying, "there's no way to let him go"! I think it's just saying, "you haven't let him go yet."

But yeah, he's in the back, and you're in front, like I said at the start, and I think this is GOOD. You're kind of in control of things. This is where lucid dreaming comes in pretty handy. If you were lucid during this dream you could have told the old guy to stop the car and kicked out your back seat passenger.

One last thing. I've been thinking about the field divided into four seasons and the four people running around. I would love to concentrate more on this, but I need my reference books at home for this and I'm traveling for work (as usual).

Still, I wrote up-thread about "multiplicity" in dream imagery. Usually it has a negative connotation. Usually, herds, swarms, flocks, etc are bad. I kind of see this small group of four people the same way. It's not good, everyone is running around in fear for their life, but ultimately (if I understand the dream) it's just you three in the car.

So...it's not all bad. You've been stewing on this guy for quite some time. You're finally conscious of it, thanks to this dream. Now you can get your head straight and hopefully tell him where to get off.

I'll try to remember to research the four seasons/four people later next week when I get home. If I forget, don't be shy to remind me.

I just had a horrible dream.

Real life background: Last couple of days I've been very fatigued from work; feeling very insecure and anxious about my tentative romantic relationship with a particular guy, let's call him The Guy, (and his relationship with his ex-.)

The dream takes place at nighttime in a steady rain, in a large house. I don't know to whom the house belongs. I'm outside in a car, backing up around the house. The driveway is narrow and composed of gravel.

There's another car parked outside, engine and lights left on, as if the owner just made a quick stop and intends to leave quickly. I understand this car to belong to The Guy's ex-, and I know they're both inside. I've never met the ex-, and no one is expecting me.

After I park the car, I climb the few stairs to the front porch and take off the shoes I'm wearing. These shoes used to by my regular shoes but after a soggy and swampy "real life" hike I only wear them on muddy trails now. I don't want to track any dirt or debris into the "dream house". I leave them on the wet porch, just inside from the falling rain, at the threshold of the front door, and anyone coming or going would need to step over them. I think, given their condition, they would instantly signal my presence.

Once I step inside the front door, I see three people to my right, in the kitchen: The wife of a friend from the city where I live; The Guy and his ex-. There's no way in real life that the wife of my friend would know The Guy and his ex-. As I enter I proceed straight ahead towards the staircase but I wave and say a quick "hi". The wife of my friend sees me and acknowledges me with a wave. The Guy is looking very somber and serious. He sees me, makes eye contact, looks a little suspicious of me but doesn't overtly acknowledge me. His ex- has his side facing me and therefore I can see his profile but he doesn't see me and appears to be totally unaware of my presence.

I continue up the stairs, enter a room (like a salon, or a living room, or a reading room) and sit on a thick cushioned chair. Feeling very uptight and uncomfortable with the whole scene I begin to piss into the cushion of the seat. At first it absorbs my piss and I think this is great. I'll just empty my bladder into the cushion and there won't be any evidence. But soon the liquid starts splashing off the material of the cushion and now I'm making a mess.

I'm so frustrated now I just start pissing on my pants and underwear which are laying around my feet on the floor. I can't believe the amount of piss now! My pants and underwear are SOAKED. I start to feel VERY anxious at this point, thinking that at any moment The Guy and his ex- (whom I've never met) are going to come up the stairs and what will they think of me? They'll think I've lost my mind; that I'm starting to unravel; that I'm not very well put together. I reach down to squeeze the piss out of my clothes and the amount of liquid is INCREDIBLE, my clothes are SOAKED, and I'm afraid the odor is unmistakable. I need to think of something quick! So I decide I need to remove my clothes and find a washing machine in order to cover up what I've done.

That solves the problem of my pissy clothes, but it doesn't clean up the mess in the room and I STILL NEED new clothes, all before they come up the stairs which could happen at any moment. My heart starts to race and my breathing quickens and deepens that's when I wake up in a near panic.

Wow sounds like that one was a pretty powerful nightmare

I'd say no doubt caused by the anxious/insecure feelings you had in real life
You hear cases of people peeing themselves from nervousness or being scared when awake (and in the dream your pants did get wet LOL)

Wouldn't worry about it too much ... but if it becomes a recurring dream maybe try to think about what is causing your anxious feelings and work on calming them or something?

Hi, thanks for your comments. Interesting you mention the possibility of a recurring dream.

I have never had recurring dreams, per se, but I DO have recurring "themes". And to be honest, pissing, believe it or not, is a recurring theme for me. I often dream of pissing...

Obviously I haven't figured this one out (why I often piss in dreams), although I think in this particular dream it has something to do with the lack of control I'm feeling and the subsequent mess that results. Maybe you'll remember the last dream I shared with The Guy in the pilot's seat. He was "in control" even though I'm older and have more experience. His navigation was less reliable, but I still let him "drive".

So...now that I'm writing this stuff down, I'm starting to think the pissing theme really has something to do about my lack of control....

This is why I like to share dreams. You helped me discover something I wouldn't have gotten on my own. And in fact, another member sent me a private message and mentioned the possibility that I might be preoccupied comparing myself to The Guy's ex-, which is another idea I had not considered by myself.

Thanks to you both.

Sometimes I'll get recurring themes in dreams too, and sometimes actual recurring dreams...

It doesn't happen too often, but occasionally I'll get a pissing dream...and most of the time when that happens, I wake up and actually have to go take a piss LOL guess for me thats the brain's way if saying it.

Like you, one of reasons I like to share dreams here is to get other's thoughts Smile
and ofcourse the fact I've like/been interested in dreams for years...

Been a couple weeks since I've checked this thread...

A nightmare from sat-night/sun-morning:
I'm in the basement of someone's house (its a nice finished one, not some dingy storage are) They had just recently completed doing some more updates/refurbishing, part of them to the lighting/electrical. We looked around at some of the improvements.
...a bit later on... (just me now)
I have some sort of electric-testing-meter out (one that you can test the wires/etc inside walls by simply putting it up to the wall & running it along). So I'm going along a wall checking the wiring inside when all of a sudden *BAM* (loud sound) there's a huge power-surge or something. I stand scared/frozen for for a few seconds...the meter (or what's left of it) is laying on the floor a few feet away, now smoking & with a hole in it. I start to look around the basement...many walls are now blackened where wires would have been running along inside them. Lightfixtures/etc are just gone.
I decide to get the hell out of there before anything else happens & run for the stairs.
...at that point I wake up...scared in that way dreams give....and then wonder if something electrical just blew up in my bedroom...

LOL so a crazy fucked up dream.
* Have no idea where the dream came up with someone's basement electrical esentually blowing up.
* I would tend to guess the loud bam/pop sound was probably one of those little creak/pop sounds houses make at night (probably a bit louder than normal) & the dream grabbed/processed it...

And a much better dream from last night:
I'm wandering around some old warehouse-type building (maybe with a brother or friend don't remember now) , isn't much on the current floor I'm on (not the 1st floor)...its lit by some really old fluorescent lights. One of them is smoking alittle & sorta flickering, I think something along the line of 'bad ballast' and I won't get too close to that thing, then just continue on my to the next floor up.
The next floor is a bit more interesting, someone has put up a bunch of old lights of various types along a wall, creating basically an unofficial light-museum type thing/setup. (don't remember what all was there)
I go back to the 1st level... There's a bunch of random fluorescent lights / shop-lights / parts (some really old looking) stuff randomally scattered around the floor...I decide I'm going to collect some of the better/cool-er lights & bring them home (this was allowed). I talk to a guy there (the owner I think) about a light or something...

* I've always loved dreams where I'm checking out some building (or house) LOL
* This one was deff cool/interesting, esp loved that little museum-ish thing.
* The 'stuff' on the 1st floor was cool too (don't remember if/what) the dream said i planned to do with what I was gonna bring home...

Thanks for the dreams!

I've been busy last few days, but I have some free time coming up. I'll stew on these for a bit before I take a swing.

72jay, your third post back from 3 weeks ago says you sometimes have "recurring themes". This "refurbishment and electrical" theme is certainly a very common thread through most of your dreams.

I remember from Christmas time you had a Christmas lights dream (some malfunction with the lights).

So, I'm definitely picking up on the refurbishment of, let's say, "space". Sometimes it's "home-space", sometimes it's "work-space". But there always seems to be an electrical aspect to it.

You can probably already guess what I think about doing "work" on your "home" (self)--or doing "work" at a place of "industry" (more professional connotation?).

And when I think of what electricity represents, I think of "power", "potential", something invisible, but with the ability to "shock". Very useful, but a little dangerous too if you don't know what you're doing.

The differences I see in these two dreams is one starts in the basement (down low, although nicely finished, it's still "under the rest of the house" and therefore has a negative connotation to me).

But in the second dream, you're up on an elevated floor (not the 1st) and this seems to be more "positive".

In fact the first dream was a nightmare (negative).
And the second dream was pleasant (positive).

Wondering what you think about the whole refurbishment/electrical theme?
Thanks again for sharing your dreams.
